I can totally see it working. Anson Mount (bottom image) was my top choice, though.

Anson Mount. He was in a couple of The X-Files episodes, wasn't he (the one where he would dress them up, cut their hair, bathed them, killed them)? I believe he almost skullied Skully, in fact!

I could see him as Geralt.

He was most well known for Hell on Wheels, a TV series about building a train line through the old West, and most recently the short-lived series Inhumans.

He played Cullen? Holy crap! I totally didn't recognize him with the beard and long hair gone!

Yep, that's Cullen.
Like Tsukeman said, he's probably too old to play Geralt for any length of time, but he definitely has the look.

well, IMO Anson would be better than Henry(not fond of him playing G) , but Anson, same as Mads, would be harder to use in milking the series, because of age I guess.

You can see people asking for Mads Mikkelsen in that article. Sure, Mikkelsen would fit better since he has done several characters as a warrior.

Mads Mikkelson was born for the role. I'm pretty sure his middle name is Geralt.

This doesn't matter to me. I'm very satisfied with the books. I don't need to see the story again in visual form. If I want to experience it again, I'll read the books again.

I'm a bit worried, but then again, I would be worried about any actor playing Geralt. Because well, it's Geralt. He is amazing

I wanted to express my worries that such a young-looking pretty face would be a bad choice to play Geralt of Rivia, but then I remembered how Heath Ledger looked in Brokeback Mountain and how they transformed him in Nolan's The Dark Knight. If this Cavill guy puts his soul into it, we'll be dandy.

And if it's true that he himself played the Witcher games and read the books, as another commenter in this thread mentioned, then that's quite reassuring :)

The Heath Ledger point is the reason I'm not worrying yet. Who knows if he can or can't pull it off, only time will tell. I think I read an article saying that Cavill actually asked to play Geralt because he's a fan, so if it's true then maybe he'll give it his all.

I didnt know there was going to be a WoT tvseries. I loved the books.

Good books doesnt mean good series sadly.
It can be done right (GoT) and it can go horribly wrong (legend of the Seeker).
Hoping for the first but expecting the 2nd

Yeah just like a lot of people say Heath Ledger was a bad fit for Joker.

Scarlett Johansson as Ciri and Zoe Saldana as Yennefer would round it up nicely (or vice versa).

Yeah, I don't know. I'm just kind of really banking on Hissrich knowing what's she's doing with these castings. I've never heard of anyone outside of Cavill before this past month. I'm assuming they've given her total creative control over the project, so it's all on her. I've been keeping up with her Twitter too, and it seems that's she's put alot of thought and work into the series so far.

Best case scenario is that all mentioned actors/actresses being cast have incredible passion for the Witcher and they let that shine through their auditions :/

They look like teenagers. Not what I imagined, especially for Yennefer.

Holy crap they look young. Not in a good way either. They genuinely look like teens who just came from school or something.
Makes Henry Cavill look very... mature... next to them. Definitely getting creepy vibes off of it.

Also, it's a bit odd to change races for no apparent reason. Hopefully she can act and it's not just some socio-political move to make a medieval fantasy Polish tale seem more racially diverse (because it's as ridiculous as it would be if there would've been random white, asian or mexican people in Wakanda).
And considering the writer, he's an old bastard who obviously isn't going the route of Rowling, who panders to people to make herself cooler by saying that Hermione's black (even though she literally described her as white in the books and approved it in the movies) and that Dumbledore's totally gay (even though he just had a close friendship and she never eluded to that being a thing, meaning that she's either the female equivalent of "that barista was nice to me, she totally wants to fuck" or just a lying dummy.)

Basically, this is just so weird and feels like the actors are some low budget beginners who will probably not be ready to make this project be great.

Holy hell this looks bad.

I was totally in with Cavill being Geralt too. Dude's a gamer and likes the series. He's obviously into the whole thing. But damn he did not put any effort into this.

Grow your hair out, dye it gray, grow a stubble, dye it gray, make your hair look less like the cringeworthy metal-head hair that's totally straight like some elf, have makeup do some scars for you and so on.

This is laziness pushed to the n-th degree. What a shame...

Sure, Geralt was lacking a beard in the beginning, but the point is to make him look like a real person and Henry Cavill with a Legolas cosplay isn't going to cut it. They have to overdo it to a certain extent and because of that those features are extremely important.

My wife couldn't care less about the Witcher (or generally video games at all) or the Lord of the Rings, but I showed her this and the first thing she said was, 'He looks like that pretty guy from LotR. He's not manly enough.'

I think that's all that needs to be said about it. :D

I was hoping a beard would hide most of his face and make him more rough.
He simply looks like the ideal Superman and Superman is not Geralt.
