SteamGifts does not currently allow giveaways to be created for Battlerite Lite. Only the full version of the game may be selected from the list of giveaways to be created. Creation of a Battlerite giveaway will therefore be for the full version of the game, and anyone creating such a giveaway is promising to deliver the full version of the game, not the Lite version.

  • If you have created a Battlerite giveaway but will not have the full version to give away, delete your giveaway.
  • If you win a Battlerite giveaway but do not receive the full version of the game, mark the gift as "not received."
  • If you have been given a key but have not yet redeemed the key, wait until it is in your library before marking it "received."

Some people are giving away Lite versions using full-version giveaways. That is a mistake. Other people are marking the gift "received" despite not having received the full version. That is also a mistake. Then there are the people who have marked the game "received" without having redeemed it to their Steam library. That is an even bigger mistake. Any of these three mistakes can earn you a suspension. If you have made any of these mistakes, take immediate action to address the situation. Correct the mistake, or contact Support for help, but show some kind of attempt to remedy the situation before Support arrives on the scene.

NOTE: If you are giving away a full version of Battlerite, mention it in your description as it is likely that all Battlerite giveaways will be retroactively deleted except those which are clearly the full version.

Good and informative thread post Khalaq as the SG giveaway list is swamped with these Battlerite "Lite" giveaways and probably SG support too! ;-)

Thank you for this post! It's pretty useful and it's easier to link to it than to repl on every GA with explanations. Btw, can you add the link to the free giveaway to you post? this way people that were looking to enter a GA and saw your link can get a key too :)

I'd like to keep this post as a PSA rather than turning it into a shout-out for free keys.

"Battlerite - F2P Keys" on license page, "Battlerite" in steam library.
No lite tag so only one way to know if its full game is installing .
Some ppl don't read forums and some ppl dont play sg-wins
Why not just remove this game from giveaway list? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

The usual course of action is to remove the game from the giveaway list and delete all giveaways made after the release of the free keys. Ronix is the one who usually does this, and Ronix is not online. It is possible that these steps may be taken by someone else if anyone figures out how to do so. It may also be something that requires SuperMod status.

I think Ronix did this while being a normal mod before too.

Ronix is one of our "hackers," so I have no idea what Ronix can or cannot do. P

I think that if it sais "F2P key" it mean that its NOT the full version.

"Battlerite" in steam library and +1 to games count - its enough for 99% ppl to mark this as recieved ๐Ÿ˜“
Also game will be F2P so ..

Hmm I tough the game had one of those "founder's pack" DLC that would be the actual complete version. But I just saw it doesn't have any DLCs listed.. so you're probably right - 99% of people will mark it as received. But fortunately moderator will remove it soon.

It reminds me of the problems with Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition & Ultra Street Fighter IV :
https://www.steamgifts.com/archive/search?q=Ultra%20Street%20Fighter%C2%AE%20IV

Some peoples have consciously proposed the arcade edition that does not match the GA as here =/

The principle is the same: Lite game + DLC for the true full game ^_^

Street Fighter was different in that what was being given away covered what was promised in the giveaway. In the case of Battlerite, that isn't happening.

That was way worse, Battlerite Lite and Full are the same game, Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition & Ultra Street Fighter IV are different games, you can't play online vs Ultra owners with SFIV Arcade. TempeteJoachim made screenshots with the proof. Fortunately, it was retroactively added to the bundle list so CV farmers creating misleading giveaways were punished in some way.

Regarding Battlerite, all giveaways (including legit ones) will become 0P when it becomes F2P (as happened with DOTA 2 and lots of other games).

Battlerite Lite and Full are the same game.

If you mean by that that they are identical, not according to what they dev's posted on Steam they aren't. The full version supposedly includes all of the current content of the game. The Lite version does not. The full version is supposed to be "the full game" and does not need to be upgraded to become "the full game." The Lite version may be upgraded to the full version by paying additional money in-game. When Battlerite goes F2P, owners of the full version will supposedly carry over all of their content to the F2P version of the game. Owners of the Lite version will still have the option of buying missing content through in-game purchases. So, it would seem that the two different versions are not "the same game."

On a different note, the Street Fighter debacle was indeed a much more complicated mess. It highlighted the slipshod way Steam deals with their API (a la paperclips and duct tape). If Steam standardized their API and it's use, dev's would find it less appealing to use spaghetti coding for Steam games.

No, I mean they are the same game because you can play vs the full version owners. Battlerite Lite is AppID 504370 and Battlerite Full is AppID 504370 + AppID 638422. The only difference between versions are the Champions available:

  • Full: All champions
  • Lite: 6 champions
  • F2P (not released yet): 1 champion for free (Jade) and will then have champions available to play on a free rotation.

When F2P version is available they'll probably launch this sub as an upgrade DLC (to unlock all champions).

OK, I see what you meant, now. (And I still think the Street Fighter problem was despicable.)

I still don't really get what happened, something about switching the name of the game and the new Ultra including DLC that the old Arcade version didn't have or something.

I won a Battlerite giveaway, it's not the full version of game. And I've marked it as "Received" 1 day ago. What should I do now? Mark it as "Not received"?

Permalink

You can't mark it not received yet. That option only becomes available after a full week has passed but for now you can click on received again to unmark it and leave it pending until you can mark not received ;)

Or, if you are cool with deleting the giveaway, explain to the giver why he should delete it and state that you agree to the deletion in the comments.
