They might have to, I remember when stadia was first announced (not sure if it was called that as well?) they had a promotion with ubisoft that if you were selected in the early access to stream AC Odyssey as a thank you (maybe it wasn't working the greatest, not sure) you got to keep a PC version of it.
I mainly did it since at the time wasn't sure how odyssey would have ran on my PC (I bought it on my console previously) but after getting the pc copy it ran and felt more smooth then the online streaming ever was and a downside with streaming if you were using other bandwidth (like downloading steam games in the background, or watching netflix) it would hinder your game stream.
I don't think this game streaming thing will go anywhere, it will probably go the way of the dodo (onLive) and until the infrastructure is there, I don't think it is quite feasible yet.

The model stadia is currently setup for probably will fail.
However, if you'd try streaming through GeForce Now or Xbox Live Gamepass/Cloud, that is a whole different experience. Both of those work pretty amazing. My main gripe is the picture sharpness, if you stream to your desktop the quality is visibly lower than local 1080p. With GeForce Now a local sharpness filter helps a little but can only do so much of course.
Where the combination Gamepass+XCloud really shines is trying out new games or games you are considering for purchase, or games that need more resources than you might quickly have available locally (hundreds of GB of SSD diskspace, or fast RTX card). Basically starting one of those games is as quick as launching a youtube review about it. Just plug in your controller as you browse to the webpage and you're in.

You should actually be able to get 4 months if you get the trial first.

That's odd. Didn't try it myself, but even here someone says it worked for him.

Can confirm this and it was actually a nice surprise, tried Resident Evil VII and Little Nightmares 2 and it was a flawless experience.

Wait, hold on... Orcs Must Die! 3?! Looks it up. Oh, there really is a third game. Neat, wonder why this is the first time I hear about it... "released as a timed exclusive on Stadia"... ... ...Suddenly I'm happy (as opposed to not caring) that Stadia is a failing miserably. Can't imagine why. :)

I find exclusives annoying in general, but an exclusive "in the cloud" aka "in someone else's computer", that's a whole new level.IMO :/

From what I've heard it was actually thanks to Stadia's support that Robot Entertainment could make OMD3 in the first place, so personally I'm glad Stadia exists. It came out in July so if we are lucky we might get OMD3 on Steam in 2 months. (They said it will come to Steam too but never said when. 1 year of exclusivity seems reasonable.)

Yes it's legit just copy the code from link and paste it to redeem code section it should work. I've started free trial then entered code from giveaway became 4 months for free.

tried it for 10 min and canceled. I keep wearing good things from those who actually pay for the damn thing, but having experienced it twice now, the quality and stability still don't meet my standards.
there is still a small input delay, some artifacting, textures and shadows take time to load on sponge bob.
I would rather pay for it and play on my pc. as if you need an expensive "gamer" computer to enjoy these games anyway.
the new pac-man sucks, i realize that is more a Bandai problem than a stadia problem, but hey...its an exclusive!
I'm from Portugal and i got 100Mbps. I seriously don't know what else to do about these issues other than leaving the country. Glad streaming didn't took over, otherwise i wouldn't be playing

hah...Its vodafone. whatever i change to is no doubt gonna be worse. if this is an operator problem, you don't want to know what i went through with Altice
Also the texture pop in (spongebob) doesnt look like a connection issue. looks like they have problems streaming in textures.

How is this a game issue?
Cloud games are being run on some dedicated hardware somewhere.

It's most likely Stadia's problem and not your internet. 100Mbps is supposed to be more than enough to handle Stadia. Their requirements say 4K 60 FPS streaming only requires 35Mbps.
This has been a common issue with Stadia since launch -- lag, input delay, visual quality, controller issues, etc. That's why Stadia suuuucks.

I created a new account, activated the free month trial and used the code to get the 3 months
(In the lenovo instruction they tell to use a link to redeem the code but it didn't work for me, I used their code in the account settings)
Comment has been collapsed.
It says you need to subscribe to Pro to redeem it, but when you click Subscribe it'll tell you it costs $0, and the next payment will happen in 3 months. If you unsubscribe right away after subscribing, you will not be charged anything (except for the $1 temporary hold that gets refunded within an hour). So there's no need to create a new account in order to use this code.

Are you sure it does not work? It says that you must purchase Pro in order to activate this code, yes, then you click Purchase, select a payment method and basically do everything you normally do to buy a subscription, but before finalizing it it should show you that the next payment will happen in August, and this month it will be $0.

you can also use google playstore credit
// tried and worked
found this on the stadia forums

I had this issue and worked through several levels of tech support to finally get a resolution.
If you initially subscribed to Pro on a PC or non-android device, you can't then change to your Play Balance for the subscription. What you need to do is cancel you Pro subscription and let it lapse, then using the Stadia app on your android phone (and it apparently has to be an android phone) you subscribe again and select your Play Balance as your primary payment method in the pop-up box. (I can confirm this works in Canada as of March 1, 2021).

Doesn't work in my country. This is the link from the button for the invite, maybe someone else can claim it: https://stadia.com/setup?invite_code=H0SVPX2L9GW6CA31

You can't.
This is the list of games you can claim to play for free with your Stadia Pro subscription.

For Cyberpunk and RDR, you have to buy them in the store.
