I'm starting up a small Discord server for giveaways. I'll be hosting 2 giveaways a week for at least the end of this year (2021). One will be public for everyone here at steamgifts. And the other one will be for the discord users only. Feel free to join and good luck (:
Also, I'll be sharing on the discord server, games that become free for a limited time.
Enjoy :)

I don't think this is allowed, this is what the guidelines say which basically means it's not allowed to make people join stuff or do stuff for giveaways you post in Discussions?

Third party giveaways that require or reward users for performing profitable actions. For example, linking to a giveaway on another service that requires or incentivizes users to click a referral link, like a Facebook page, follow a Twitter account, join a Steam group, complete a survey, sign-up for a newsletter, or make a donation.

I think you're right, my bad... It's not a "profitable action" but it is indeed against the rules. I'll remove the giveaway link. Thanks for the heads-up (:
Putting only the discord link and the giveaways on steamgifts should be fine... right?

You're welcome, I just remembered the rules from when it was told to others ^^

Not sure how that works, since technically people still need to join your Discord for them, but on the other hand joining a Steam group for it is allowed so this might be fine?

I mean... I will post also a giveaway on steamgifts every week on discord so it should be fine. Since I'm also giving away games without any requirements there ^^

Hey,

The only place where users can promote their social media, youtube, discord etc. is inside the giveaway description. Not as separate thread in the forum.

If you have group to make giveaways you can make Group Recruitment thread. But it's not place to promote social media, so you could also not post links to discord there.

I don't think that's correct. In the "guidelines" it says:
"General references (e.g. referring to your "website", "YouTube channel", or "Steam group") MAY also be viewed as advertising WHEN we believe their purpose is to bring attention to an associated product or service for publicity or sales."
I may be wrong but that's all I see in the rules about "social media" related stuff.

I've also found this about the "User Projects" category:
"In this category you can show us projects you are working on. For example you could share a website you are developing, a YouTube channel you recently launched, or home renovations for your gaming / theater room."
So maybe that's more of an appropriate category? Since "off-topic" is not allowed and maybe "group recruitment" isn't either.

Either way, I've moved it to the "Group Recruitment". Let me know if I'm wrong about what I just said.

This is what applies:

Advertising is when you are promoting products or services you are associated with, or when you are posting content that is paid or sponsored. Directly naming or linking to an associated product or service will always be viewed as advertising.

You are promoting your own discord and linking directly to it. So it's direct advertising.

People can freely advertise stuff they are associated with only when it doesn't fall under any of the points listed in the User Content and only when it's done inside the giveaway description.

Outside of giveaway description you can advertise only in 4 categories listed in the guidelines. This one obviously doesn't fall under Add-ons or game showcase.

In Group Recruitment you can promote your group that is focused on GAs. You wrote you want to make GAs for group so this is what I proposed. But you can't promote here your discord.

User Project is also not meant to promote discord as a meant to talk to people. It is there to allow people to show projects they work on. PC build, game review website, twitch channel etc. But it's purpose is to show it, not to gather followers via giveaways that require them to do something. The only kind of giveaways you can link to are private GAs that don't require to be part of steam group, twitch, discord etc. to be entered. As it's "thank you for checking my thread". Not "you will get something only if you follow me". Public GAs also should not be linked to. You make public GAs with link to your social media to give your social media exposure on the main page, not to link them in the forum. People can see them anyway, no matter if you link them in this topic or not.

You want to promote your discord with GAs only for discord users made through discord (which doesn't qualify as group recruitment, and doesn't have association with SG) and give it exposure both on the main page and forum via public GAs.

If you want to advertise in the forum you will need to start to make private GAs in User Projects. Do not promote here GAs made through discord as they have no connection to SG. It's the same as promoting GAs made through gleam.io or private fb groups. And as maru pointed it's not allowed. You can mention in your OP only GAs made through SG, not other raffle platforms.

Now when I went through the discord rules I will close this thread:

Collecting money, items, or games for giveaways, lotteries, or group access. For example, asking users to donate a few dollars, with the promise of giving away a valuable game once adequate funds have been raised. Or, asking users to personally send you games and items for an event. Or, requiring users to send you annual fees to participate in your Steam group.
.

You made discord server with promise of GAs and write in your rules that quality of GAs will depend if people will sub to give you money on said GAs:

If you would like to support this project, you can do so on the 🎇premium channel. There, you can find ways to support this project. Not only you'll support this discord but you'll also get things in return! For yourself and for all the members! Every plan/purchase will help to bring more and better giveaways.
.
Are there any AAA keys included?
A: It depends. From time to time there can be a surprise inside a giveaway  But there will be priority to the Monthly Subs. The more support I get (🎇premium) the better the prizes will be.

SG can't promote GAs made through discord only for discord users that ask them to donate you money in order to get better giveaways.
