I think you don't understand how a ga works :/

nop i don't understand, because I never take another winner, and never put anyone in blacklist, I just participated and create giveaways without restriction of level

You can't ask for a re-roll just because you don't like the winner... That's why if you don't want someone to win your giveaways, you can blacklist them

both options are bad , the luck chooses, not you

If you don't want to use the blacklist, you don't have to. But people use the blacklist for making sure scammers, beggars or rule breakers can't win their giveaways

the blacklist is no longer used for scammers, administrators should create a blacklist

Banning scammers is more efficient no? ;)

Removing the blacklist and allowing a re-roll like that would be a better idea though. Then again, I view the blacklist as a rather terrible idea.

I do believe this whole blacklist thingy is quickly becoming Steamgifts new meme.

There really is A LOT of talk about it the last couple of days. The same thing's going on with the thanking in the GA comments. It seems to me it's all getting a bit out of hand.
Then again, forums are for discussions and it's interesting to see what people think :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Agreed.

The thanking topic is one which has been brought up in the forums a gazillion times over the past few years, and it's always the same arguments, the same grievances, the same circular discussions, and the same amount of rancor. Only the names change.

It was the same with CV and it will be the same with levels. It's the same with politics, and it's the same with religion.

We're probably safe to add blacklists to that same list of recurring topics that people will discuss at length, but never agree on, and never change each others' minds about.

Allowing users to re-roll would end up in a lot of abuse

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It very well could end up like that. No system is perfect, I guess...

True, but a blacklist leads to more, in my opinion.

is that steamgifts already lost the essence of being a page to create giveaways, these options .. blacklist .. re roll , removing them should

It would just give more work on an already overworked support staff. The inclusion of blacklists in the core functionality of the site allows gifters to filter out people they don't want to join their giveaways by themselves, reducing the number of support tickets related to re-rolls. That way the support staff can handle more pending requests.

^ very much this. It's a good innovation, and one which will lessen the burden on Support. Although a few will misuse it, folks need to give more credit to the members of this community and trust them to use it in an adult manner.

In the traditional woman's train of thought: Are you calling me fat?!?!??!?!

xD

An explanation for those who don't have girlfriends - mate is used, among other things to lower appetite and giving a woman something like that can lead to only one conclusion- you're basically calling her a fat cow. ;)

Permalink

I'm from a place where people drink A LOT of mate, and here we (not me, actually) drink it for its flavor, so it doesn't strictly mean you're fat if someone offers you one.

Don't you dare walk away from me while I'm talking!!
It's all your fault!
If you had made me feel wanted I would have taken better care of my body!
I am nothing to you...
You don't even love me any more.... :(((((

Jokes aside- hormones- they do crazy things to women's minds.

i think blacklists are an useful help, but i think there should be an option where you can mark why you blacklisted someone.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I also thought about that but that would mean that the other person knows (has been notified with the reason included) that he/she has been blacklisted and that would most likely, in my opinion, lead to people bugging the person who blacklisted them.

Permalink

I would really support such a feature. Person A should explain why they blacklisted person B, and person B should be aware of that, with the option to explain themselves or ask for more details. Will that be annoying? Possibly - so it will reduce blacklist abuse. Person A can always get the staff to temporarily (or permanently) ban person B, if this person constantly says 'plz y blacklist me u noob'.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And that would lead to even more tickets. There's just no right way to go about it now that the option to blacklist is officially here.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I suppose... Oh well, just scrap the whole feature then, that'd be my default suggestion anyway. :P

Also, no idea what the hormones part was about, but if you're trans, that's amazingly awesome and very brave / courageous! But in all likeliness, it wasn't about that. :P

I'll have you know I have both a mother and a sister! And, I do actually have quite some 'deep' talks with various women from time to time, plus having multiple transitioning (mtf) friends provides another interesting perspective. But in the end, I am not a woman, so, who knows. :P

As for the actual pms stuff... Well... You can't fully understand it until you've experienced it, and as you seem like a pretty cool guy I wouldn't wish that on you ;D

Geez so many people butthurt for blacklists. Why is it a problem? Just because it lowers your chances of winning a game? Silly :I

Comment has been collapsed.

You may find it worthwhile to peruse my discussion regarding blacklists and contribute to the thread if you're interested.

I think there needs to be justifiable reason to redraw the winner. Whether blacklisted or not, if the winner won fairly and there is insufficient reason to choose another winner, he or she should receive the gift.

can't we all just chill the **** down about the blacklists? nobody is stealing your precious games if you are actually blacklisted by someone, you lose nothing.
In reality there are way more public giveaways thanks to the blacklist feature, a lot of people wouldn't even do public giveaways if "special" cases can actually join and win those.
Everyone has that one person they would rather take the "not recieved" instead of gifting him/her the game, or just stop doing giveaways at all, if there is even the tiniest chance of them winning it, if you don't have one yet, I might be the one for you. ◔_◔
I don't know if you checked the giveaways before and after the addition of public blacklists but man, there are a lot more giveaways these days, of course there might be no relation at all, who am I to judge? ლ(ಠ_ಠ ლ)

TL;DR
Blacklist Slyfon.
Stop whining and move on.
Nothing of value was lost this day.

I honestly don't see the problem with blacklists. If someone doesn't want you to win their giveaways, get over it. There's plenty of other people that (hopefully) have not blacklisted you (yet). If you manged to get blacklisted so much that's it's become an actual problem for you, you probably deserved it.
