The hard part about this puzzle is to find the correct phrasing for questions 9 and 10. No luck currently.
For number 10 especially I tried ~10 ways of writing, but nothing fits. According to the picture, it can only be one of the possible values (the other being colored differently), but no way of phrasing it (from the ways I tried) is accepted.

After the hint above, I found the solution now for Q10. But as a heads up: The picture shown is of a different denomination than the correct answer.
(dual colors/metals versus single one)

The picture you used with the dual metals shows the standard denomination. This was the first coin pressed. After some intervention they couldn't release it into the wild, so they had to do it in a different way. The other pictures on the google image search show the new coin (single metal) with the denomination you expect.
With me being from Europe, I assumed the denomination depicted by this dual metal optics to be the expected answer. Thus my fails in my top post.
But hey, thanks to this small error, I now know about this unusual coinage :) Learned something new.
All in all a very nice event, I like it.

Out of curiosity: Can you please post (after the giveaway is over) the initial solution you expected?

The quizz was great and with the first feddbacks and the adpatation you did to answers it must be fine now.

Bump for this quiz. I've just solved it and it was an interesting read. Thanks!

There is no particular theme to the phrases, they are just all associated with the monument. I would suggest using a graphics editing program such as paint.net and adjust the contrast all the way up and then play with the hue until you see the last phrase.

Got them all except the 4th hidden phrase. Not sure if the problem is my eyes or lack of image manipulation skills!

This is my first puzzle for this event and I greatly enjoyed learning about this landmark and its amazing history. It is a monument that commemorates the Battle of Waterloo and is built on the site where Prince William of Orange is said to have been knocked off his horse after being hit by a musket ball in the shoulder.
To find the entrance to the goodies you have to solve a short riddle. The answer leads to an ITSTOOHARD quiz with prizes and the passcode.
My first letter/digit is infinity turned through 90 degrees, my second and third are the "answer to life, the universe and everything", the fourth letter is the most common letter used in English, the next is the last letter of the English alphabet, my sixth part is an eye, my seventh is the same as my fourth and my final letter is uniform in the NATO phonetic alphabet.
www.itstoohard.com/puzzle/xxxxxxxx where x is the answer to the above.
Note: Collect the passcodes from the 5 landmarks from this week to gain access to a train for week 1!
Schedule for complete event and access to weekly trains can be found HERE
