I was wondering if I give my account to a Russian friend and ask him redeem cod advanced warfare steam gift for me. Will I still get banned ? But I'm not using vpn?

What's an alt account?

Even if he redeemed it, you probably wouldn't be able to run the game in your home country without a VPN. See if you can trade it for a game that isn't not region locked

You might not get your account back if that guy decides to keep it, but hey i think you already thought of that.
If its locked, its locked. Better trade it off mate. Risky business.

For what it's worth, I used a VPN to unlock a game once. It wasn't worth it and it was before I knew it was against ToS. I wouldn't have done it if I knew because losing your games over this dumb shit is stupid. You don't save enough money to make it worth it. I say this because I did do it once but I haven't gotten in trouble for it. I don't have the audacity to push my luck to do it again and I wouldn't suggest anyone even try it once. However, you do have a good chance of getting away with it. In theory, they ban people over this only if it's a repeatable offense for then you're noticeable. So you decide if it's worth it. Keep in mind some shit is region locked now, as in you cannot just use VPN to unlock it. As for giving your account to a friend, it looks just as bad to Valve and they have no way of knowing if you used VPN or broke another set of rules, they just know you broke some rule and if they wanna ban you over it, they will. So... use VPN before account sharing but you probably shouldn't do it at all.

so apparently as you can see on his steamgifts profile he tried to make group giveaway of this game, the group which only contains OP + another steam user (probably the friend he is talking about), it seems like he is trying to get some free CV here.

Giveaways with one entry only are considered trades. So, no CV.
And private giveaways don't generate CV anyway I think.

Privates generate CV as long as there's more contenders than winners.

Sharing accounts is against Steam Terms of service, you might get banned if they find out. Besides, CoD: Advanced Warfare is currently ROW in the Russian store, so make sure your copy is region locked before sharing your account with someone else.
