Appreciated. I'm unnatractive, poor and also an asshole so not understanding them is not too big of an issue.

Just impress them with your Steam achievements. Then they'll happily overlook any faults you may have.

P.S. I hear women turn to goo the second they hear you've 100%ed Secret of the Magic Crystals.

I don't know, I'm not the biggest goo fan out there.

There are many reasons why people make fake giveaways. Not understanding how this site works is the most common, I think. For example, some people expect they are the ones receiving the games or think this site provides them with the games to gift.

I haven't heard about people who make fake giveaways just because they're evil and they want to crush other people's hopes. Though there might be those too, who knows... :/

That sound of the winner's dreams shattering like so much glass...'tis delicious.

For srs, I'm pretty sure Marumisu is right. For whatever reasons some people just don't understand the site so accidents happen.

I guess I would laugh, winning a game after lurking this site for 1 year and then it was fake. Somehow would make me laugh.

I have seen someone creating high level giveaway(cod blops, hitman absolution) and deleting these in the last seconds, just to promote his yt channel.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those. Those are pure evil, they just abuse this site for their own irrelevant benefits. So yeah, I guess there are people who create fake giveaways intentionally. Those should be hit hard in the face with the banhammer :/

I must agree with you but I need to add that most of the times these giveaways are made by Russian people (no offence of course). Why? I don't know. But I can guess because I live right next to Russia and there are lot of Russian people in my country + I'm a good friend to a few Russian people.
I think they just don't want to read FAQ, rules or anything else that they need to read. And they are really stubborn - they will never listen to other people and be like "Nope, I'm always right!" I think they still have soviet ideas and they think that something that belongs to someone else belongs to them too.

True that. I think there might also be some trouble with Russians and the language barrier. I don't know how well English is taught in russian schools, so I can't say for sure. Though it's pretty odd if they're using this site even if they can't read the rules and directions how this site works...

Well, as I said before, I live in a country next to Russia and my country (Latvia) was in Soviet Union too. There are lot of Russians still. Official language is Latvian but they just don't want to learn it. They been living here for more than 20 years (we are independent country for 21 year now) and they still haven't learned Latvian language. They even wanted to make Russian language our secong language. I have nothing against normal Russian people but I'd like to shoot some of them with an AK47 (which, ironically, was made by Russian guy).
What I wanted to say - they don't want to learn. They want world to speak Russian but they don't want to learn even a tiny bit of English or any other language (of course not all of them. There are Russian people who speak other languages very good). And that's the problem. They need to change the way they think. But that won't happen for a while. Why? Because of the fucking Soviet Union which doesn't exist anymore but it still exists in a way - in their government. Same people, same ideas. It's just matter of time until their planes will start dropping bombs on other countries.

That is pretty hash text, but I believe that's the truth. You should know better since you're living around russian people. Russia is a big country, so there are naturally a lot of russian users also here in SG. The high amount of russian users combined with their stubborn attitude spells disaster.

I think it's still a shame russians are generally branded as scammers and cheaters in the internet, even though I'm sure there are also a plenty of honest and honorable russian gamers. A relatively small collective of russians has dragged the name of the whole nation through the mud, it's really sad :(

Well, yeah, of course there are good, honest and honorable Russian people too. As I said before, I have some Russian friends too. And I'm just saying what I see almost every day. No one should get angry at me or anything - It's my experience with them and I really can't do anything about that. Even in gaming servers (mostly Team Fortress 2 or Counter Strike series) most people that are being assholes here are Russian kids (I'm talking about servers in Latvia). They think it's funny when they turn their microphone on and then loop that text "Ja povar, ja povar, ja povar" (I'm chief, I'm chief, I'm chief). I don't know why they do that - probably not enough attention from their parents or something but I have never done things like that and I have never needed to do that.

For some reason people haven't been reading the FAQ and think that creating a giveaway is in fact getting THEM the game.

Check the profile of the gifter in relation to the games being given awat.

Anything in particular to look for? I know the obvious would be people reporting games not received, but since this seems to be common with new users they wouldn't likely have that.

Usually, joined just the day before a large giveaway, entered about 2-10 giveaways, writinh nothing about them actually giving the game away themself.
There are some people giving games like Call Of Duty Black Ops on their second day of joining, but then they usually writes in the description that they're giving it away, or if they're called fakes, actually replies and tells that it's a legit giveaway.

Good to know! Chances are then I won't run into one of those at least since I tend to enter the lower value ones.

Perhaps, but there's always people making lower scams as well. But indeed, they're not as many, and it doesn't hurt your SGWallet as much.

Most obviously is when someome that just registered few hours ago makes a giveaway for CoD or other expensive games. You can also try to look at the Steam inventory to see if he has the game (but that's not always a proof that the giveaway is fake). Almost all fake giveaways are for expensive games and you just should look at them and most times you can see somehow that they are fake.

BTW don't write such comments like "This giveaway is fake!", this is forbidden.
