Hi, I know that steamgifts changes the value of games according to the prize on steam.

So I can have 1000$ in contribution today and 900$ tomorrow according to what happens on steam.

But why is for example Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, giving only 10$ contribution valuen when is 30$ on steam and have not been part of any bundle?

Because this 2 days my contribution wwent down 120$ then for 1 hour went up 150$ and now is down again.

I am not try to create any problem just curious, because I am near 2000$ and Wanted to celebrate with a game, but I must be sure, because is fluctuating too much.

Thanks

I think it's bad that ones value can decrease :l

the price may go down, which is a depressing thing to the owners who has bought the game , for example witcher

Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 are not $30 each. They're $30 together with DS3 in a bundle. That's why.

With DS3 costing $20 alone, you get $10 more contributor value out of gifting the games separately here than the bundle costs. I don't see how that's unfair to you.

Actually they are not 30$, 30 $ is a whole pack of dungeon seiges aka Dungeon Siege Complete, and since you cannot buy separately on steam either Dungeon Siege or Dungeon Siege 2 they are "not-deserving" taking value of Dungeon Siege Complete. This is not first game to be devalued for its over-value, example Penguins Arena: Sedna's World, game that costed 1$ and took a value of bundle that it was on steam (15$), and few months ago highly exploited for contribution value.

I don't think it's fair that you contribution value decrease with time, it should mantain constant.

It reduces so that people stay active rather than sitting on a high value.

yeah I get what you are saying, but my point is that you pay 60$ for a game today, it's not fair that this system treats you 2 years from now like you gave a 15$ game. I think what should matter is how much value you gave at the moment. I get the whole thing about having high value and not giving away games because you don't need to, but the initial effort of gifting a game should be taken in consideration.

Games are usually valued way above the price people pay in terms of contribution.

Even ignoring bundle games, the majority of people wait for a discount to buy Steam games unless we're talking about pre-orders, or new releases, and these are rarities which are given away by only a miniscule fraction of the Steamgifts userbase. I have a hunch that a lot of the users giving away these type of games couldn't actually give a flying one about contributor value, and just give for the sake of giving..

I would suggest that for most people, their contributor value is FAR, FAR, FAR in excess of what they actually paid for the games they have gifted on here, and even if their entire contributor value was halved overnight, this would probably remain the case.

Besides, I like the idea of a constantly falling contributor value. For those who worry about these things, it is an encouragement for them not to sit on their laurels :)
