What headset should I buy?

Razer Kraken 7.1
Razer ManO'war 7.1
Steelseries headset
Corsair headset
Logitech headset
HyperX headset

It's typically recommended to buy yourself a nice pair of headphones and a desk mic separately. It'll usually cost less and if one of them breaks you don't have to throw the whole setup away.

+1 It also allows more customization options. You can litterally get any mic / headphones you want, while with a headset, you're kind of limited in that.

agreed. Also you have a far better Price/Quality Ratio. Good stereoheadphones (which is absolutely alright for fps where you need to hear the direction of sounds) + a decent mic togehter are usually as good if not better as a headset double the price.

I recommend the ModMic, it attaches to most headphones with a detachable magnet + adhesive and is overall really nice quality.

I use the HyperX Cloud, so I'd recommend that series, super comfy~ <3

Meanwhile my friend uses the Razer Kraken. She has to replace the headset every ~1.5 years for some reason (not sure how she's broken so many). She's on her 3rd pair now, I believe. Not sure why she doesn't try a different brand if this one is so fragile, but she likes it.

If you game on PC, skimping out in the headset is the last thing you want to do. Bad audio kills immersion like nothing else, and if you play for hours on end, you want to be comfortable too. Cheapo headsets never deliver on either of those requirements.

High name brands are rarely that much better than the other items of a decent price. This applies to food, clothes, shoes, cars, and electronics in most cases. Often times name brands cost more just because of the brand itself. I've tried both the real cheap ones at $10, better ones in the $30-40 range, and the $100 ones, and to me the ever-so-slightly-barely-noticeable-unless-you're-intentionally-looking-for-it quality between the $30-40 and the $100 isn't worth the 60 bucks to me. For comfort? I usually sit with my "Cheapo $30 pleb" headset even when not using it as a simple sound buffer, usually for periods of 6 hours which have gone longer. Hardly "skimping out," but if the plesebo works for some who am I to judge.

Also that original comment was pretty clearly meant as a joke, but whatever. ;)

My advice would be whatever you choose look how thick the cable is especially at the end at the 3,5 plug. If it is as thin as the usual earplug dont take it unless you want to buy a new one next year.
