Finished recently:

• Paradise - Craig Alanson. Not sure if I will continue this series. I can see pattern occuring in each instalment now, jokes also gets bit repetitive.
• The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle. First part of short stories instead whole book concerning about single case. What is missing is more background - culprit perspective. Still some of the cases were quite interesting. Defo gonna continue to complete whole series.
• Ringworld - Larry Niven. I got this book for a really long time in my to read list. Heard about it first time when got into wikipedia endless linking articles, don't remember where it started, but finished on Kardashev scale and megastructures like Niven's ring or Dyson sphere, so wanted to know more. Read few book with those elements, but Ringworld was unawailable then. Was the waiting worth it? Eh,,,? Not sure. Ideas and whole backgroung was nice, but overal story was not that great, just another adventure with journey, with worst part being characters. We have most standard archetypes - 'wizard', 'warrior' and main character which appears to be smart and cunning when needed. There is one more charcter trope - 'woman'. Author approach to these characters was really sexist. Not really a character(s), but a template used - obviously in love with MC, scatterbrain, when needed for story - damsel in distress. Glad I got this one completed from backlog, but don't think I will continue this series as well.

Plan/reading:

• Dust of Dreams - Steven Erikson - actually started this one before above 3, but after each 'Book' need one or 2 easier to follow stories. About 200 pages remaining.
• Accelerando - Charles Stross
• Tricked - Kevin Hearne

Just finished 'Toxic Prey' by John Sandford -- it was awesome.

The Empire of Gold - S.A. Chakraborty
Kind of a slog to be honest. The conclusion of the trilogy clarified some interesting facts, sure. But the book gave me an overall sense of being too much of a soap opera. So I didn't really like it. The previous ones at least I enjoyed a bit, the setting being interesting. But clearly I am not the target audience for this trilogy.
So, I'm going with We Are Legion (We Are Bob) - Dennis E. Taylor next. Much more in my alley.

I'm on an Alien kick recently as I've started GMing an Alien RPG table and looking for inspiration - recently finished both Alien: The Cold Forge and Alien: Into Charybdis, two books by Alex White. Cold Forge 9/10 and Into Charybdis 7.5/10. Recommend both, in that order.

9/10 for me it was one hell of a read(that and the fact that I'm a huge fan of the Tv Show also made the book better)

The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov!
Quite a unique kind of storytelling. Very clever and imaginative author giving an amazing parabole of life in Stalinist Russia.

Hierarchy #1 - The Will of the Many

8/10 - I adore well done magic academy novels. Beginning is definitely a bit slow and it takes a while before it really gets going but when it finally does, it becomes incredibly fun.
