In past i did played with 60fps on games jet set radio HD and Street Fighter X Tekken, but now for a unknown reason i got lower FPS arround 25, but in game if i go to steam overlay by pressing Shift+Tab the FPS became 60 again... the problem i cant see the game with all steam overlay stuff cover the screen...
Anyone did got the same problem?

I recorded a video to show the issue: clicky the same problem happens with SFxT

UPDATE: Fixed, I just removed the files x360ce.ini and xinput1_3.dll from directory that were created by x360 ce software to emulate xbox 360 controller and game became normal again.

Lag has nothing to do with fps. Framerate drops can sometimes be caused by steam overlay, but it's rare.

I should call "FPS Drop" or "Slowdowns" instead "Lag", in my case the Framerate its fixed by opened the steam overlay which its quiet opposite of the situation you describe.

I have never heard of steam creating those problems. Check your discrete graphics control panel settings. You may be using too much AA or you have vsync enabled. Try running a clean install of your graphics drivers.

If you have an nvidia card, make sure you disable stereoscopic 3d. It halves your framerate in almost every game even when you are not using it. I would also use MSI afterburner to make sure the game is using all of your gpus if you have more than one.

Doesn't mean that it's not the cause though and disabling the overlay to try doesn't take too much time.

Do you have Vsync enabled? Such drops can happen when it is enabled.

Have you changed any other settings in the games or updated your graphics driver recently?

Are there any steam skins that make steam lag less the games and the PC ?

I highly doubt that Steam is the cause, so I'm almost certain that Steam skins would have no effect.

I'm 99% that steam is the cause

99% is basically certain, I've never been 99% certain about anything related to programs. I'm sorry to say you got beaten by 1%.

Why don't you open a bug report on steam forums?

I already sent a ticket to steam support and i didnt get any answear, plus why i cant post here? there is tons of steam users (captain obvious) which might help me find out the solution, and since im stay more time in this forum than steam support forum.

go to task manager and set steam to run at below normal priority
that should stop steam from always updating while ur using heavy loads. i.e when your about to release a load over your monitor XD

That wasnt the problem, i just changed the gamepad and the information that was recorded on "x360ce.ini" from xbox 360 gamepad emulator did have wrong values which cause a overload to the game... that was the issue. anyway i did fixed the problem and now im using "Pinnacle Game Profiler" software instead "x360 ce" since it's much more flexible even if isnt free..
