My first Idea (that sparked the idea of creating an idea thread) is a bit out there and may not even be do-able...
I'd like to know if it would be even feasible to scan a chart on a bundle page, and have it auto-remove all my entries to the games listed in the chart. This morning the Indiegala Monday bundle thread, I purchased the bundle, then had to search my entered giveaways for every single game individually in order to insure I wasn't still entered into any of them. I would love to know if a script could handle that instead, maybe have it tie in with the RaChart script in a small way to insure it's properly removing the correct appid entries instead of same name game entries.
Yes it's petty, but would be helpful. Obviously this one is a more in depth suggestion/request/idea (whatever you want to call it), but it works for a starter example of what I mean by script ideas/concepts/brainstorming.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you're referring to this one, it doesn't actually auto-remove stuff you've already entered into. It certainly does cut-back on accidentally entering into them after the purchase, but I still have to search each game just in case i'm entered into any of the games in a recently purchased bundle. When it's a brand new bundle that I caught and bought the moment it went live, it's not very likely i'm already entered into it. But if I wait for payday to purchase a bundle, I could have entered several still actively going on giveaways.
But that does do most of the work already, It would just be nice if it could tie in with reading the chart from a bundle page, and have a button on pages that are rachart enhanced "remove all entries from games on this chart". Or not that I'm suggesting you alter yours but it could I guess in theory be linked where there is a blank chart area that users of the script have a button for each game that's highlighted, buttons there along with the highlight to remove entries associated with that games appid.
edit: the individual buttons per game would be a little better for the different tiers even.
edit2: the problem with just having sync remove entries is the bad steamapi.. but if linked or reads your enhanced chart styles, and is done from the bundlepage, it could go off the appid that's in the chart code. - or even just steam api. technically site should have this function on its own.
sorry for edits

No problem, I understand. It's kind of a petty feature, it only takes a minute or two to search the entered page for a list of games. But as often as this community is purchasing bundles it would be nice. Really I don't understand why the site doesn't just remove your entries on it's own. I have no issues remembering to sync every time I buy a bundle as it is. Its just those that I already entered into that I have to worry about.
The one and only time I've had to request a re-roll (from a win, not as gifter) was because of this scenario though. The sad part was I did take the time to search for games I was entered into, but from the main page instead of the "Entered Page" and it was a Invite Only giveaway that won't come up in the search results there.

oh, awesome! thank you very much ^^
I will certainly test it out first change i get, but it probably won't be until friday. Hit the limit on bundle puchases for this week till next payday. xD but i'm sure ill have some entries that need to be removed by that point. Installed and ready to go though.
Comment has been collapsed.
I did just get a chance to test it out. Entered into several of the "Shadow Complex Remastered" GAs from the $1 tier HB.. Redeemed the game, then synced, & all my entries were still there. Had to remove them manually.
If it only occurs on auto sync, then that's probably why. But really would perfer anytime I press the sync button for it to remove entries as well.
Edit/Update: Actually I had accidentally left one out of the removal process, and resat the sync timer interval to 0 and refreshed to make the auto-sync kick in, and it still wouldn't pull the entry.
EDIT_2: I had time to take a look thru the script code, I don't know code all that much from what it looks like to me it would probably function if it's a "won" game. But what I was looking more for was after purchases. Which from what I understand would be a pretty significant change from how it functions reading from a "Won Page" as your script does. To do it like i'd want, it would either have to scan and make sure i'm not entered into anything from my library (way too much scanning to be feasible I would think).. or closer to what I was saying where it read the charts associated with bundle topic pages and more specifically went of the appid's instead of names due to same name games.

Ooh nice thread.
I was thinking of making a userscript to add more steam public info in SG user profile.
Such as :
I don't really need this info, but if the request comes from Steam profile, might as well show all the numbers in right side link (Number of badges owned, reviews, screenshot, artworks, guides)
I have been so busy lately, and there are many other things I want to do to my current scripts. So maybe there's someone who find this useful and make script for this.
Comment has been collapsed.
that actually sounds pretty cool to me. would help kinda spice up the user pages a bit. xD
as a reverse for traders a script for steam community to show the latest 10 steamtrade reviews on the community page somewhere would make for a great extra safeguard when trading.

I would like to see some other info in the section of created giveaways. For example:
I would also like to have there a button for direct sending keys.

On the picture one - this page.
It would be similar to the script that makes better the page GA entered...
Comment has been collapsed.
I would like a script that show me what level I will probably have after all my ongoing giveaways ends. It should show the exact number, for example, 6.57 and it could be placed in the created giveaways page.
Comment has been collapsed.
the only real issue i can see with that is the large delay in games getting moved to the bundle-list, so in those regards it wouldn't be all that accurate, however otherwise it sounds cool. and it's not like we won't at least temporarily be that "level" until it does get moved anyways. sounds pretty good to me. xD

I just would like to know, if it would be possible to make script that shows actual Steam price of the game somewhere in the GA info (in the list view and also the GA page itself as well)? If this script exists, please tell me which one is it, I didn't find it in the scripts list.

I have a few ideas:

+3 ^^
love those ideas. all 3x. xD
first & second ones would probably slowdown page loads a reasonable amount doing those extra scan/checks, but as long as they are on the correct pages i don't see that being a problem for most. (user profile page / winner page)
3rd one is just common sense that should of been added back after the steamtrades/steamgifts split, but still hasn't been.
Comment has been collapsed.
does dividing the amount of comments by 25 not equal the amount of pages? (or does that counter also count replies?)
edit: seems to me it doesn't count replies in that counter. example: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/3bOhV/january-2017-happy-train 683 results / 718 comments (reply diff)
Comment has been collapsed.
hehe my bad, i was thinking of discussion page last page links, which is there... but...... so is the last win giveaway page now as well, but still not a last sent (created) page.
edit: unless i have a script causing the last won page anyways. -- but, there is no "results" counter to divide for sent page, so adding it wouldn't be possible with script.
Comment has been collapsed.
I like those ideas and I'll implement them, but I'm not sure when I'm pushing the next version of my script (I'm trying to get it done by the weekend), so someone might beat me to it.
Comment has been collapsed.
That makes things a lot easier, thanks. :) Fixed, it should highlight the ban icon if the user hasn't made any whitelist giveaways now.
Comment has been collapsed.
it does not seem compatible with dark userstyle (squished)
Comment has been collapsed.
You're welcome! I'll look into the other two ideas when I push the next version of my script.
Comment has been collapsed.
I now tested it, and it works beautifully. Tried users who have me whitelsted, blacklisted and ones with no GAs - in all cases the script worked as expected. This can be a very useful tool for whitelist and blacklist cleanup. I don't personally believe these necessarily need to be mutual, but it's still useful information.
Comment has been collapsed.
This script is very useful. I used it extensively today, going over my whitelist. I found two users that have me blacklisted, and it would have taken ages to find it otherwise. Based on this experience I have a couple of usability suggestions:
Comment has been collapsed.
I just edited the code a bit: changed the color of the heart / ban icons to the same color used in the sidebar and now when the check has ended the loading icon will change to a check icon instead of disappearing (see image below).
I actually intended to have a single button and displaying a message at the end of the check instead of using these icons, and I'll work on that for the next version of my script, so this is just a temporary design. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually edited it again and added a button. It will show 5 different responses:
Let me know if this design is better. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
This would definitely work better, thanks!
There may be better terminology for the last three. Without this text it'll be a bit difficult for users to intuitively understand what is the difference between "Unknown" and "None", and "Not Blacklisted" and "None". Maybe release this enhancement as is (in the main thread), and ask people to suggest alternative terminology (or to comment about it, maybe it's a non-issue).
Also, in theory there's the possibility that there's be another state - Not Whitelisted (not whitelisted, but not enough info to determined if blacklisted). It's probably very unlikely, because most most users who create giveaways created at least one public giveaway.
BTW, the button appears twice (see below) and once on the notification feed page. In both cases I believe it's one too many.
Comment has been collapsed.
I could make it so that when the user hovers over the button, a tooltip drops down explaining the response in more details.
A "Not Whitelisted" state is actually not possible: if the user has only created whitelist giveaways, there is enough information, because like Sighery mentioned, the blacklisted message has priority over every other message, including the not whitelisted one.
Hmm... that shouldn't be happening. Did you copy the entire code and replaced it? Especially this part:
if (HostName == "www.steamgifts.com" && PathName.match("/user/")) {
addWBCButton();
}
This block makes it impossible to appear in the messages page.
Comment has been collapsed.
i found an issue with it...
found a user that it claims i am whitelisted by, but i am not in their whitelist.. i am in a group that they gifted a whitelist+group giveaway too and since i can join it it claims i am whitelisted.. however manually going thru their gifts i found a whitelist only gib that i cannot view.
it needs to check for whitelist only giveaways to be 100% accurate, not whitelist+group giveaways.
Comment has been collapsed.
That overcomplicates it, and would require a request to get the person's list of groups. The way I did it was: when it finds a whitelist giveaway, it checks if that giveaway contains the giveaway__column--group
column, and if it does, it keeps looking.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah I see what you mean now. Yeah, that would be better in that case.
Comment has been collapsed.
i don't honestly know what all that means, but a lot of the work is 1/2 done i think.. revil should be able to take the part that scans for the whitelist/blacklist highliter every 'x' days and alter it to just scan the https://www.steamgifts.com/account/steam/groups page for the necessary info for a compare list on whitelist giveaway scans.
Comment has been collapsed.
oh okay, thank you for explaining that to me. i think i understand that now. i'm not sure if i said it all right before, but without the cookies information it should still be able to scan the users group page and create its own cookie/cache with the info though if i understand how it works correctly though?
but direct cookie from SG could better your api call features by making that info publicly available for scripts to call upon -- making that info useful for this scripts new feature? (also having that info on standby for other future or past scripts to call on)
edit: sorry, i know 1/2 the stuff i'm saying only, not really all of it..
edit2: clarified what i meant by direct cookie call features slightly better
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah I somehow forgot to add that back when I switched to checking for the first available giveaway. It should be fixed now.
Comment has been collapsed.
Do you know someone who has a lot of not received giveaways and can you tell me in private so it's not calling out? I just implemented this and would like to test it.
Comment has been collapsed.
not a script creator personally, and i think this would be possible. but probably a very difficult one. someone would probably have to host a sms or email provider in order to accomplish it (unless maybe there is a good sms/email host that can anonymously send without login credentials worldwide).
i'm also not sure if people would be very accepting to this one being created. i see how beneficial it is, but i can already see others arguing how leech-like it is. however it's certainly nothing as bad as an auto-joiner or anything like that.
Comment has been collapsed.
It would be really nice to have an extension/modification of the Blacklist/Whitelist Indicator that shows these labels on group member lists as well. (Potential use: if I stumble upon a racist/sexist/etc. group on SG, and I start a blacklisting spree I could easily see who I already blacklisted of the members.)
Comment has been collapsed.
i'm not quite sure i follow. are you asking if someone can create a rulecheck indicator that is just like the whitelist/blacklist indicator? there kinda already is, though it would be nice to not have to open 2x tabs each time i want to check on that status.. a green checkbox or red crossed out box (pass/fail) indicator that is like revils whiteliste/blacklist indicator would be pretty nice.. then if u want the details of a "failed indicator" you can check into the details of that failure.
then take that one step further and also add in a "group check indicator" and that covers a prior request too. ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
i'm imagining a button closer to revils button, so that it doesn't slowdown page loads every single time you load a user profile page instead, but anything along those lines would be great.
revil button example: (change text to say - rule checker & come back with pass, fail multi, fail nonactivate, fail both)

ahh, okay i see now then. in that case....

already exists by itself (direct) as well as it's included inside of sg++(or maybe it was extended SG) i believe. -- also i believe revil may still have plans to add his own version of it into RHSGST xD
edit: added direct link since there are several scripts on linked page.

hmm well the only 3x i can think of atm.
3x i can think of:
line break (kinda simple enough with three hyphens)
tables/charts (kinda can't be done generically that easily anyways)
in-line code (triple tilde also kinda simple enough)
edit:
ahh, but yeah a quote button and font sizes would be nice (i can't ever remb how many pounds/hashtags equals what sizes)
hell all should get added no matter how simple though really. not like bold is hard either.

Another one: Display in the giveaway feed if the GA has a description, or if the first comment is by the GA creator. If it's blank (and only if it's blank) or if the first comment is not by the GA creator, add a join button directly on the feed. Let's see how many blacklists I'm added to for suggesting this :-D
Comment has been collapsed.
i'd add in the extra addendum that if the first reply is also not the op/creator of the giveaway. just in case they are noob'ish and add the "description" as a first reply after creating it instead of a actual description.. just an extra safeguard from being leech-like, but otherwise i still +1 this. not that i'd use it, but it sounds harmless really.
Comment has been collapsed.
I've no idea how possible these are, or if they've been included in any of the existing user scripts. They're not in the ones I've tried or seen though, and a quick search didn't bring anything up for me.
Comment has been collapsed.
the first two are possible however they would cause too much of an impact on the SG servers scanning thru several pages to calculate up odds to sort them that way, or to go thru the hundreds of discussion pages to accurately sort them as well.
for the filter suggestion there is currently (at least) 2 solutions - SteamGifts v2 Giveaway Filter & HLL -Hot Links by Level!
(but i'm never opposed to more solutions either)
not sure on the last one about any existent tools, but sounds like a good idea for one there. +1
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for the info on the existing solutions, I'll check them out.

Maybe that script already exists but I recently joined a new group and was wondering if I have have any of the members blacklisted.
So my idea would be a script that adds Blacklist / Whitelist indicators to the members page of groups here on SG. I wanted to link the member page of a big public group like S.Gifts here to clarify what page I'm referring to but since I can't find GAs for one of those, Charitable Losers will have to do, since you're a member there as well.
Comment has been collapsed.
rhSGST is still in development but already does have that feature and its reverse version of that feature (find who all has you wl/bl) among a bunch of other really good features. its kinda like sg++ or extended sg though and its more of an overhaul to this site. I recommend at least trying it out, it's quickly becoming one of the #1 used scripts due to some one of a kind features it has.
SGT Frog is another overhaul that also has that feature.
or
Blacklist/Whitelist Indicator all by itself.
xD
Comment has been collapsed.
But I already use Blacklist / Whitelist indicator and while it works perfectly for the discussion boards it does not for the group member page. At first I thought I maybe looked at a group where I have nobody blacklisted but if it should add whitelist indicators as well there must be some kind of issue because I have ~ 1/4 of Charitable Losers whitelisted and I don't see any blue hearts when looking at the group page.
Are there maybe different versions of Blacklist / Whitelist indicator ?
Comment has been collapsed.
oh sorry, i just assumed it did. i haven't actually used that one. rhSGST's version of it certainly works on the groups page.
photo legend:
bluheart means i have them whitelisted
green checkmark means they have me whitelisted
green highlighted name means they pass sgtools non-activated & multiwin checker
((red x mark for blacklists & red highlighter names for fails, but i purposely left those out of this shot.))
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh cool, I'll give that one a try. Thanks :) Those are some nice extra features on top of what I wanted anyway.

Hello! ^_^
Is it possible, to make something, that would allow to turn the steamgifts filter (hidden games) on and off? Or maybe transfer it to the outside database, that can be "switchable"? Or any other way, that would allow to see whitelist/group giveaways, even if the game is hidden?
I'm not sure if I've explained it well... I just like whitelist/group conversations and fun, but I don't see the majority of them
Comment has been collapsed.
cg implemented the ability to turn it on / off: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/e9zDo/change-log :)
Comment has been collapsed.
yeah i think that'd be plenty, if someone does it or adds the feature (hoping myself now), make sure it works off the archive page directly too. that way even if there aren't any current GAs running you can create game notes off the archive without actually having to goto the GA page (for rarer only given in groups/private that you are not in or can't visit type of games).

I implemented this in my script and it will be available with the next version, which is coming tomorrow. :)

On the setting tab for your script, when I click Update, it goes to {"error":"Not Found"}, because the actual link link is https://github.com/revilheart/rhSGST/blob/master/rhSGST.user.js
, not https://github.com/revilheart/rhSGST/rhSGST.user.js
, as in the Update button ( =

Not sure it's a common use case, but here is another idea for something which could be very useful for me:
An option to temporarily blacklist a specific list of users before an event, then when done, revert their status with a single click to what it was before blacklisting. This is a twist on the common method where people use temporary whitelisting for events, but in this case I'm trying to make the event accessible to all users, except those who already benefited from it and got their "share". This is one such example, where so far I'm achieving it by fingerprinting user attributes via SGTools. The problem is that it locks out users who are just unlucky to have the same fingerprint as one of the previous winners (not to mention it's very time consuming).

Hello!
Do u remember this bug in userscript? https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/a1cOqxc
I made invite-only giveaway - https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/uNM9T/verlies-ii (all welcome to enter xD)
In my timezone:
start - Feb 19, 2017 12:00 am
end - Feb 19, 2017 11:59 pm
Is there any way to change "Begins in 9 hours" into "Begins - Feb 19, 2017 12:00 am"
and add correct info about end-time?
Comment has been collapsed.
oh i would love a script that pulls that hover time and slaps it directly in text... SO +1 +1 +1 +1
i don't think the script would be able to read the end time until it starts though, so it would only be able to read that time at that point. but yeah i hate the hover method.. it barely even works half the time.. gotta hover something else first in order to make it work the other half of the time.

I love this idea and I'm adding it to my script with the next update (it's coming tomorrow finally xD).

There has been a significant increase in scripts being written and users who write them. First off, I would like to Thank each and every one of you that have made any form of script what so ever. Whether I liked it, used it, disliked it, don't use it. It makes no difference to me, your contribution is still important. This community is extremely amazing in those aspects and if it changes I hope it only gets that much more amazing. xD
Secondly for those that do not know about scripts or know where there might be a list of available scripts. Sighery has been maintaining a SG Add-Ons Registry of available scripts that can be used on steamgifts.com or relative sites.
I thought it was about time there was a thread specific for those that want to come up with ideas and concepts or merely just to brainstorm for even more scripts to be created, since the script writers seem to be growing day by day. I come up with ideas regularly, most of which I shove aside and don't even bother to mention, but if I've thought of it, then i'm sure many others had too. So this is the place we can jot down even those "simple/smart/complex/dumb" ideas that you may of thought you were the only one that wanted it. It's been recently pointed out to me that many script writers enjoy doing scripts even if their target audience is a single individual, so even if you feel your idea is unimportant, if it's easy to implement, there is a fair chance somebody may still make it.
If you already have made a suggestion topic, it may not hurt to still re-suggest it inside here. I'm hoping if we have a single list rather then a separate topic for each idea, they may get taken into better consideration as more and more people realize there is a list and reinforce other peoples ideas with +1's or extra tips to make it work.
Rules of this thread.
P.S. Some of the code/script contained in this thread is either still heavily in development, abandoned, broken, or possibly even fully working. Use at your own discretion.
