Hello Guys :)

I just noticed it's my cake day too! Was not even planned :D
I know the most of you are here for the train, so here it is.
No need to read everything if you don't want to.

Still people here? Okay! Let's get started.

I will be honest with everything!
I'm sick for a while now and can't work, means I have a lot of time for gaming.
I don't know when I can/have to work again, so I thought I can use my time and love for gaming to start streaming.
I know a lot of people like to watch Let's Plays and Twitch and stuff.
My aim would be, if I have to work again, I can earn enough money with streaming to live a normal life.

Okay now we are reaching the main point.

Is it worth a try?
Should I stream in english? I think my english is decent, but would it be good enough to start streaming in english?
Would it be better in german?(I am german by the way :D)

A little bit of Info about my gaminglife:

I love all sorts of RPGs, for example Dark Souls, Final Fantasy and Darksiders, sometimes I play stategy games, I love Tower Defense games :)
I prefer games with Achievements and play (most of the time) them till I have 100%, even if I have to grind like hell(like in many Final Fantasy games).

Uhh well, I guess that's it. What do you guys think :)?

Feel free to ask if you want more infos to find an answer ;)

What do you think about the streaming language?

View Results
You should stream in english
You should stream in german
Only native english should stream in english
There are more than enough streamer

I don't watch streams that frequently. The only streams I watched so far are for minecraft to get a few ideas for new redstone circuits.... so I got no idea.
Might be hard to get a subscriber / fanbase with the current amount of streamers.

I think the biggest problem is the start, to get the first few.

I'm personally not fond of live streams, but I'd recommend you to stream in the language you feel the most comfortable with.. The most important thing is to sound as natural as possible.
On the other hand, if you ever plan to upload playthroughs in Youtube please make them uncommented. It really irks me to hear somebody talking when the only thing I want is to know how to beat a certain boss.

I think you are the first one saying the comments are annoying, but I totally know what you mean.
I turn the sound off mostly then.

I only hear English fluently so I'm biased but I enjoy Streams I can understand and the English speaking skill level of the performer is rarely an issue. (Poor recording equipment has always been a far greater problem.)

I do know there are a lot of people out there competing for viewers but if you have enough desire and the drive, that might not be too daunting.

I think if this is something you might enjoy doing, it's worth at least a try. Good luck regardless of your decision.

As an Argentine artist with enough years on the internet, i had learned that you will always get more potential clients/viewers if you do/write all on english than in your mother tongue. so good luck with it!
and i bet your english is better than mine anyway X3

Yeah indeed X3
It get's pretty hard if you, like me, have no teacher whatsoever to learn to type or talk correctly in english.

what you see and all my misspells is the product of self teaching (a very lazy self teaching XD)
if you have the chance to get a teacher for something it will help you greatly :)

As German myself, I'd suggest to start streaming in your native language.
I've watched a few German streamers speaking English and it often made my ears bleed and cringe.
Unless you grew up multilingual or lived some time in the UK/USA to drop zhe German Azzent, I'd go for streaming in German.

Not being fluent in a language while gaming, and thinking and talking... it won't be much fun to watch&listen.
And people who can understand English well (which most Germans do) will just watch native English streamers anyways.

tl:dr Die Nische an Deutschen Streamern ist größer als die von Englisch-sprachigen. Ich würde mir lieber die Nische mit weniger Konkurrenz aussuchen um erfolgreich zu werden.

I agree with everyone saying don't stream with the intention of making money (honestly at all...even in 2 years if you were still doing it). But yeah I'd try it out, and if you enjoy streaming keep up with it! But if you don't have fun, then I wouldn't keep doing it in the hopes that you'd eventually get money.

About the language, yes I think English is your best bet especially starting out, since the majority of the audience knows English, it might be harder to find viewers who only speak German? That said there are a lot of streams that put [ENG/GER] in their titles letting people know they can speak both, while still primarily speaking English.

I hope the streaming thing works out with you! I personally wasn't able to do it consistently because of health issues (it's tough streaming/being engaged for hours at a time...especially when you have to worry about health stuff as well) but I really hope you enjoy it and that you get better. :)
