I liked the 4th one a lot - I'm playing MK Komplete currently, and a lot of things remind me of MK4 - it's a little like a travel back in time :)

Actually, its the only main game (bar X) I never played. I had 1 - 3 on Mega Drive, the games released for PS2, and 9 for PC (plus might grab on PS3)

Definitely worst Mortal Kombat game there ever was. But I loved it :)

Edit: But it gave us Quan Chi so it may be as well the best Mortal Kombat game there ever was.

Since I saw your comment before the site died, I'll just leave a response.

I did play it, owned it for a while before giving it away after I had beaten it. It was god damn awful. Between the poor gameplay and the cut content, there is no reason to recommend it to anyone wanting Mortal Kombat games, I'd rather recommend the Gameboy version of Mortal Kombat 3, another title in the series which I used to own.

Actually, Defenders of the Realm gave us Quan Chi, and Mythologies after that. MK4 was his third appearance in MK media.

Great game. And thanks for not being a total idiot and putting the potato option in the vote. It's pointless, childish, not funny at all and all around very stupid.

Played 2-3 and trilogy on friends console, and when I saw MK4 for PC i had to have it. It was fun, but playing on KB has its disadvantages...
Also, PvP on same KB was fun... especially because you can beat friend in and out of game... elbow wars XD

If we don't count the spin-off games and other media (looks menacingly at the novel), MK4 was the absolute low point of the franchise, and the reason MK seemingly died and took several years to come back with Deadly Alliance. I had it, played it quite a lot, but never liked it.

What about the handheld games? :P

What do you mean? The only handheld game between MK4 and MK:DA was Advanced, the remake of UMK3. And it kinda showed how good MK4 was: the first game to come out in years was a remake of MK3 instead. Apart from that, only Gold and Special Forces were released, and the latter really was the last nail in the koffin.

Never played Mortal Kombat games on the Gameboy? They went all the way up to 4 there. 4 was actually the best on that system though, Colour support. :P

Also, remaking UMK3 had more to do with the system, I should think. Later, on the more powerful PSP, they did release a 3D game.

Mortal Kombat 4 wasn't released for sega, unless you mean Mortal Kombat Gold for Dreamcast. That one is pretty cool, because of the extra characters.

I had it for 64 and still do for PC. Great game. I want to play more of X but it's so terrible with the keyboard and I can't get my PS3 controller to work on the PC. :/

Still have my copy. Annoyed that the PAL release had content cut from it. I wanted to unlock Mortal Kombat 2.
