Only a little bit more powerful. When you have a larger budget, the performance grows exponentially, due to the cost of the motherboard, power supply, case, and monitor being rather stationary.

you can hookup PC to TV. So if you're adding monitor cost to PC cost, you should add TV cost to Console to make it fair. :P

Only thing is, most people own a TV already. Playing on a PC with a TV is a lot harder than with monitor, and not always as satisfying. Depends on the game.

the initial cost is higher but the over all cost is a lot lower once you factor things like steam bundles, sales and price over all

but if you want something that is going to be as good as xbox1 and ps4

graphics wise your going to need at least a 7850 or the re-badged 270

Intel Setup Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

AMD Setup AMD FX 6300

600.00 U.S.

now this is all new parts with case and hard drive i just picked good parts that where fair priced just to give an idea as prices will very depending where they come from and what the person wants now if buying used could save some coin and usually that is what i do

bother have a 270
the 270x is imo not worth the extra you could over clock the 270 yourself a bit but i would stick with stock

though if you went with intel you could do a mini-itx build which would make a very small and very portable and nice gaming set up

but the pc will also do more then his gaming console ever will but the build will depend on the games they want to play and what they want out of the games,as if they will play mostly shooters they tend to not be as demanding

but the bottom line is if they want at least xbox1 or ps4 like graphics they will need at least 2gb video card and at least a 270x

but if they can live with less like most of the people who game on the pc then they can get a good gaming pc for less

i think a good start for a gaming pc would the the Intel Dual Core Pentium as it still leaves room to upgrade if so desire and they can get the Nividia 750ti which will run off the bus and does not take a lot of power and is not to far behind the 7850 and they could make a mini itx intel

anyhow this is just what i think

The question you want to ask is, "What gaming PC can be had for the price of a console plus a few of their overpriced games?" Not only does PC offer better . . . well, pretty much everything, but it's cheaper in the long run if you're ever going to buy more than one or two games for your platform of choice. Literally the only 'advantage' consoles can claim is exclusive titles, but 'exclusive' pretty much just means you have to wait a little longer for it to come to your platform. It's not like the thousands of available titles don't give you anything to do in the meantime. If playing the latest overhyped AAA games the day they come out on an inferior machine and paying through the nose to do it is your thing, then have fun with that. If you want better visuals and effects, the ability to use mods, you don't want to pay a fortune for it, and you can wait a few months for 'exclusives' to be ported over, then join us.

And that's pretty much how you should handle that discussion.

Sony usually has exclusives that I'm drawn to, although I'd never buy a console within the first couple years of release. I like a sizable library to exist, the hardware to have stabilized, and the price to have fallen before I'll invest in it. GoW and R&C were both system-sellers to me.

"What gaming pc can you build with the price of a ps4?" > One superior than PS4.

Here in Brazil you can buy a VERY GOOD pc with this price because a ps4 costs R$4000 = 1740 USD (gigantic taxes)
Well, not really , because the pc's parts have gigantic taxes too.
