I would VERY much recommend you to get it now!
I don't play AC myself, but a friend of mine does, and the first two games are great on PC.
I don't think you have anything to worry about, but if you really want to pay more and (potentially) get worser graphics on PS3, go ahead.
As of the DLC, i don't know anything about that. Does AC3 actually have DLC? 0.o

yep, controller for the pc its a great investment!
There are some expensive wireless usb adapter to use any xbox 360 controller, or the wired xbox controller with the driver from microsoft... those 2 kind are the most supported controllers to play on PC.. But there are cheaper options that work pretty well too, i personally have a Trust GXT28 controller and work great with most games, especially with PS2 emulator...

Yes you can't access your games after ps + expires but it is so cheap and you get so much value that once you sub you 'll never go back! If you want to play with a PS3 controller on Pc try apps like motionjoy/xpadder, you'll save some money!
Enjoy your game! :)

From what i heard you can still play the games you already have installed, but you can't download other free PS plus games so its still kinda awesome.
AC 3 is by far the worst AC game, and as far as pc controls go they changed them a bit so they would suit the consoles more, which might be fine with a joystick, but with keyboard and mouse its annoying, but it didn't keep me from playing through it. If you are (like me) interested to see how they will make the character single-handedly save the history and are just a fan of the wall climbing and parkour you might be a little dissapointed by the game, but you will still have fun. It likely won't go cheaper if you enjoy the series and want to try every game go for it, otherwise AC4 is imo the best game of the series and you could also wait until it gets cheaper and buy that instead

I think the PS plus thing is different in different region (in US, as long as you downloaded the game you can keep playing it, but not in Australia - I heard, never got the subscription before). The thing is I don't play my PS3 all the time so I'm not sure if it is worth getting PS plus.

This is cuz Ezio is the best with all his charm, AC2 and ACB are the best games(didn't played IV yet), however Revelations was little boring too cuz Ezio was old, but in AC3 ship battles were fun and I liked a lot the tomahawk weapon, but yeah really epic ship battles are in AC4.

I would recommend it. Get it on PC if you have a gamepad.

Just checked, UPplay is selling AC3: Special Edition for the same price.
@Defias, is the game on UPlay a DRM-free version? If so it is better to get that.
Edit: I just read that it is not DRM-free and requires Uplay, but do not requires internet to play.

I can't speak to PC ver PS3 but I can recommend AC3. As other people have mentioned AC3 isn't the best one in the series but it still is a great game and I am pretty sure you will enjoy it if you have enjoyed AC and AC2. I got the season pass for AC3 so I got most of the DLC and although it is fun it is MUCH harder than the main story (if you want 100% synchronization). This is both a good and a bad thing depending on what you are looking for....
P.S. I think that AC:Brotherhood is the best one in the series....I know you didn't ask about that one but I figured I would mention it ;-)

I haven't tried the third one. The first one was pretty good. Really liked it. The second one is too long.. and not well optimized... plus there is that uplay thing. I recently started it over. Didn't have the mental power to finish it back then. Maybe now. If i finish that i may buy this third but i would need a new pc for that.

if you have a PC that can run the latest games decently and have plenty of ram, go with the PC, it looks better bviously, and it should play just the same if you have a gamepad. I have both the pc and ps3 versions and the ps3 runs smoother for me because my pc graphics card is not that good, but the PC version looks better, for sure. I haven't played the DLC but i hear it's a bit disappointing.

Thanks for the input, I have 4 more hours to think about it :)
I played AC I and II (including Brotherhood and Revelation) so definitely keen to continue the story. The issue is choosing between PC and PS3 (coz I already have the 4 games on PS3), but I think given the price I am more keen to get the steam version.
Thanks for the input. I feel that the DLC is not worth the price even on discount by judging the only steam review over there.

I don't have a "newer generation" console and i never played and AC game on it, but i think, from the logical standpoint, if you buy the pc version and if you plug in a controller it shouldn't be a much different gameplay experience then on the console minus the fact the you are playing on your monitor and not on the tv

Hi all, first time creating a thread here.
Assassin's Creed III and the DLC are 75% off on steam. I played AC I and II on PS3 before and like the game, but I am not sure if I should get the third one on steam (planning to get the PS3 version).
So my question is:
Thank you very much! :)
EDIT: Uplay has Assassin's Creed III: Special Edition for 75% off too, it includes an additional single mission (not sure if steam's version has this). A more bang for buck if you don't need the game on steam.
