Change value appraisal system into points system

We currently see a lot of whining about people "exploiting" sales in cheaper countries for the purpose of giveaways for the sole purpose of boosting their giveaway values on the site.

Some may argue that this is good thing, some may argue that this is bad thing but personally I question the wiseness of value system as whole.

Instead of appraising site users by our invidual giveaway value, there should be point system which would show which kind of keys we've given.

Sections would be as following, with perhaps different names / percentages required.

1. Bundled/Discount Games:

  • Cheap -80% original price or bigger discount bundles. Also all over -80% discount games from other sections.

2. Indie Games:

  • Indie Games at normal or less than -80% pricecuts ( aka ones which haven't been bundled )

3. Mainstream Games:

  • Regular games from bigger studios with less than -80% discounts max.

This would give incentive for people to make giveaways of all sections, and it would allow making new kinds of contributor giveaways only to people who have contributed enough to certain categories.

Stop value exploiting, and give us fair way of appraising us :)

Nope.

It's a lot more work to admins than making 1-2 ultra cheap games into bundle.

And why non-cheap indie games would be different than AAA games in CV?

IMHO the best solution is the following:

The current CV should be calculated on the value of the game and on the number of the giveaways for that game in a certain period of time.

E.G.

In the last 3 months there were 100 Mark of the Ninja giveaways and 10 Bastion giveaways (I don't care if they are bundled or not)
They both have the same value, but there are many giveaways for the first game and few for the second game. So the Mark of the Ninja giveaways must have a CV lower than the Bastion giveaways.
ATM I haven't a formula to calculate the hypothetical CV, but I think this is a better way to reward the users who create less common giveaways.

We're never going to move to a more complicated system, only a simpler one.

I assume this as an official statement, this thread is now obsolete and people should stop bitching about it.
This site is about giving vidya and if you ain't giving or receiving vidya you doing something wrong and should stop.

Reminder: complaining about CV isn't giving or receiving vidya

Whenever you give a game - you receive a cookie!

Seeing how CV would only be important if private groups would be banned, there's no reason to do anything with it.
