I had one moment in EU where of the two guys remaining, one guy shot the other in panic and then ended up getting mind controlled. Lost three countries because of that. :(

I'm watching it being streamed on Twitch right now, and it looks smooth as silk on a mid-range PC ...

I'm running smoothly. Best game ever (in the last year)

This !
I have a lot of fun with new XCOM. Game is smooth, no FPS drops. It was a long time since I've bought game (single game, not bundles etc.) and I'm not disappointed. But I think I overestimated my skills and I'm losing on legendary =[

no way, i'm going with veteran on the first go. you never know what the game is going to throw at you.
and so far? a lotttt

I don't own the game from what I seen, if you get any weird drops, turn VSync I hear it really helps.

Running smooth enough to be perfectly playable for me. Cutscenes/loading screens have FPS issues though. That's running the game on an outdated Hd6870 card, only advantage it has is the 2gb video ram.
I also managed to completely fail on the strategic layer in my first campaign, so that one failed because I fell behind too far in terms of research and resources.

Performance wise, it's terrible. It feels like I should install it on SSD, terrible load times, including during missions when I need to wait bunch of seconds before I can finally give orders or I need to wait half a minute after I killed last enemy for win screen to appear.
Also, while it can be explained lore-wise, so far 95% of missions I played were "rush in, you have 8 turns before you lose". So far didn't get mission terribly broken by that, but still thinking about getting no-timers mod...

This was one of my fears when I heard they changed (or more like turned 180° around) the original story, that it was an excuse to have more of the timed missions which for some ungodly reason they thought players liked in the first game.

Bump.
2 friends had difficult times at first launch, after some work, they are now enjoying it.

I just cleared the game. It's quite fun, but performance is an issue (running on an external HD, the load times are insane and even though my computer blasts past the minimum specs it can barely run on minimum at 1920x1080 (native resolution), especially on more hectic levels.
Gameplay wise I have no qualms recommending it though, and if there's a patch to fix the terrible framerates I can recommend it as basically a direct improvement to the original XCOM, with satisfying combat, a more tense (but more forgiving?) world, and a quite enjoyable setup. The only drawbacks are a rather limited amount of variety in terms of equipment (3 tiers, basically, with random side projects granting more specialized and powerful but randomly selected gear, if you can find those stupid cores (I think my game just stopped spawning them) you need to make them) and RNG heavy combat (once you get the shadow chamber you can see guesses about what you'll face, otherwise you better be loaded for bear or sectopods or you might have a bad time). Enemies are redesigned but still recognizable, though with some twists. Psionics are, in my opinion, overpowered, but the resources required to train them is a pain (mitigated by the fact that they're immune to a whole bunch of nasty stuff with the right training, and their ability to train every psionic ability makes them both versatile and deadly).
However, like I said, the game doesn't run super well. I only had one crash during the campaign (while loading, but the window was out of focus so it might have been my bad) but I had a lot of chugging, especially later on when things are intense).

Try lowering the resolution. I usually have those problem on new releases and almost always play on 720p with medium to high settings, opposed to 1080p with low settings. On 1080p the thing in the menu had a terrible framerate, but when I dropped it to 720p, I could even raise some settings and now I rarely get framedrops.

I would, but my biggest grip is with the loading times and a couple oddities during gameplay which I don't think are related to the framerate. Only the final battle lagged significantly enough as to be unplayable, and that because I exploded things way too much. But yes, that would increase the performance... though I'm not a fan of playing at 720p, because it looks a bit too muddy for me.

It runs very well. I usually play new releases on 720p medium to high settings and this one is no different. Except for some lag (which I always get in new releases), I've not noticed anything in the performance. Overall this game is one of the best games that have come out in the past 2 years. The gameplay is great and not hard to get used to (atleast not if you're familiair with the series) and the graphics and customization options are numerous (at least if you have the pre order bonus, not sure what's all included in the base game).

I'm getting pretty poor performance in certain areas (e.g. when there's lots of fire from buildings crumbling after I've smashed the place up with a bunch of grenades), but most of the time its perfectly playable. I've had the occasional moment when the game has had an FPS drop just as I go to click where I want a troop to move, and its sent them to the wrong space in a very dangerous situation.
Buuuuut, I love it. Even with the poor performance it is still a really fun game.

Got 18 hours on Xcom 2 right now, and im enjoying the game a LOT!
I think its worth it... i bought the deluxe edition so i dont have to buy the freacking expansions and dlcs one by one...
The game put the graphics on maximun on default on my computer and put it on her knees... i had smooth fps in cutscenes but in the ship i had like 15 fps... and in game i had like 30 fps and then dropped to 5 and things like that... i just took the antialiasing and other things like those and dropped a little the textures quality and the game is smooth right now... i dont know why it was in maximun by default...
My rig has this thingies: Q8300 intel core 2 quad processor, 8Gb ram, Nvidia Gtx 960 2 Gb, a 7200rpm hdd... Its pretty old and still holds it... I think you dont need a really powerful machine to run it well

No, I think that an older rig (not too old of course), might be able to run it (on lower settings that is).
I have a i5-4440 (8 GB RAM, I believe) and a Nvidia GT640 with 4 GB and I can play it on medium (on 720p). It runs very smoothly and I could increase some settings, but that would decrease my average fps.

Performance is a little low, since I can't run at constant 60 FPS on ultra with a GTX 970, had to cut down on quality.
Minor gameplay bugs here and there, like the enemy shooting a civilian through the floor and so on.
Minor graphics bugs, like ragdoll spazzing, debris stuck mid-air, etcetera.
Overall, the game plays great and feels great. If you liked XCOM:EU/EW then you'll like the new features XCOM2 has to offer.
Currently 11 hours in and can't wait to play more.
Cheers!

It is pretty good. Performance wise it is quite demanding. I have a pretty old PC and i have to set the settings close to the mínimum. But being a strategy game this is not a deal-breaker,, it looks good enough.
The gameplay is pretty good, i like the changes both in the tactical and strategic layer. The new approach of being an insurgent group rather than an army shows, i have done several missions in which accomplishing the objective and running away with some survivors is the only possible option. Play on Veteran your first playthrough, not Commander (the equivalent of Classic in XCOM). They upped the difficulty a lot, you can get frustated if you start on Commander (for example, on my first mission the base grunts were the equivalent of Thin Men and they were backed up by 2 aliens as strong as mutons and 1 alien with mind control capabilities).
