Seems legit?
Invite the middleman to a group chat with the buyer/seller
Do not invite me into a chat group on Steam.
So… does he want a group chat™ or not? How do you even make a group chat© with random people on Steam as it doesn't support conference calls or user-made chat® rooms? (Or logging. Or signing in to group chats form the web. Or chat commands. Or pretty much anything even the dumbest IRC clients could do in 1993.)
Currently ONLY dealing with High end TF2 and CS:GO items.
…even though his most valuable skin is a 2-dollar one and he has exactly zero of the items on his screenshots.
Member in steam since December 25, 2015
9 year on service of steam (Has 21 Avail Badges)
I think we have a Time Traveller© in our midst.
Also, my Steam™ account is 5 years old and I have 181 Badges©. My Alt is 1 year old and has 44 Badges©. I guess I can apply to be a Steam™ Super-Duper Administrator+® then.
His English is surprisingly good, but still has a few flaws natives don't tend to make. From the amount of work put into the details and the tendency to try to organise everything, I'd hazard maybe a South-East Asian behind it.
Impressive friend list though.

Might be why he tried to add me. A few high-level friends do help to legitimaze your profile.

He use the same "A" letter >> λlpha as Halflife logo just to make you feel like he is really related to Valve ...
"If you need some help over my service, please read my informations 100%, don't be vague" <<< Oh yes, but I just need to read 10% or watch your fake certificate to be 100% sure you are scammer
I will not Administrator for:

"Adminstrator"? "Admnistrator"? "All right reserved"? Oh, c'mon, you can do better than that!

I've wrote a message in the real account's profile so he'll probably report him.

I have to say that it has been some time since i got contacted by a scammer. It was bots for the most part, but 2 or 3 actual people, but last one was at least a year ago.

There's probably a good number of bots in the invites i receive, I just ignore most random adds anyway if I don't know the person from either here or barter.vg

"9 years of service"
But... Where is the badge?
He could at least leave that one out, the first thing a guy looks at when he reads "x years of service" is the badge, that's just plain stupid.
I really hope not so many people fall for this trick...

That certificate tho ;)
At least he put some work in his profile not like the other scammers.

Wait he is a fake? :O
I thought he was totes legit yo.

I'd never trade with someone with less than 50 games
or with a "valve administrator", or someone who does "Item-Verification" (???)
or with someone who "ONLY dealing with High end TF2 and CS:GO items" and has a worthless inventory
Apparently he's a reddit administrator too, wow, much career, such certificates, very legit :O

As long as it's not a Steamgifts user, I believe it's okay. Support can close this if I'm wrong.
Edit: It would appear the rule extends to non-Steamgifts users as well. The post has been edited not to show the actual URL per request of support.

Best part for me though is that actual administrators probably won't put a screenshot from some kind of certificate at the top of their profile. Also claims to have 9 years of service, however his badges say otherwise....
Thanks for the laugh! I'm always secretely hoping someone like this adds me, just to see what they do and just mess with them... :p

The fact that this profile exists is proof that Valve do not care even the tiniest bit about scammers on Steam. If they did they'd remove his account instantly. But they don't, they allow scamming to continue with their lily-livered approach to handling abuse.

I got added by someone that looks almost exactly the same with the middleman/item verification reddit links :x
I would have fell for it myself if I wasn't being careful with my csgo knife. They want you to send the item and get it "verified" by the steam checker which is of course a scam because you have to send the item to them. I mean why would you even need to check it with a non-steam app if you can check EVERYTHING about the item online.
PS. if you want you can also link this profile for awareness
and also I see since the last time I checked it, it now has a trade ban on the profile!

Well, all of the addresses have Melon in it, too. Not sure if impersonator's were attentive to that little detail or if its just the same guy, making all the accounts. Seems he really loves melon though.

The MelonLover account seems to be the original one. Impersonator(s) are just trying to have something somewhat similar.

Some trader account tried to add me on Steam today. That's not unusual, I get friends requests all the time from suspect accounts. Usually I just ignore them and move on.
This time, I was somewhat impressed by the level of craftiness that person has put into their profile to make it sound legit.
This guy's profile has many of the telltale sing of a scammer, "only dealing in high-value items", just one game in library, etc.
However it shows a few things that could confuse a newbie trader:
I'm wondering how many unsuspecting users will actually fall for such a trick.
Edit: Apparently, he's actually emulating another suspect account and simply copied the fake certificate from there.
Edit 2: This guy would appear to be the original account being impersonated. At least that one doesn't have any certificate from Valve and clearly states that he doesn't do any item verification or middlemanning.
Edit 3: I removed the link to the guy's profile as I was told by support that it could be considered calling out even if the user is not registered on Steamgifts. You will have to make due with a screenshot of his profile.
