They're not really reviews, but I enjoy the Yogscast's videos and Totalbiscuit's WTF series and Terraria series.

cams02 is pretty spot on. I only watch TB's videos. Yogscast are okay in small doses.

I think the most important advice is the most obvious: 1) upload regularly & 2) be yourself. Aside from that, I like to hear criticism from the reviewer so I know that they're holding games to certain standards rather than just glossing over any flaws the product might have, and I like to hear their reasons. Also don't try to listen to and appease everybody. There will always be people who are very vocal but ultimately not worth listening to.

It is very time consuming to make even a short video since you generally have to record a lot more footage than what ends up on Youtube. Streaming is nice because you just generate raw footage and commentary, whereas with Youtube you probably have to record, encode, and edit hours of footage just to get 15 minutes of video that is relevant to your commentary. Unfortunately I don't have much advice there except that you might try something like what Zeitgeist Review does with his alternate channel ZGRWhyUDead. He and his friends (and fans) stream themselves playing games and then upload chunks of the stream to Youtube, for example a single stage of Magicka or a single match of League of Legends. And of course there's Totalbiscuit's WTF Is first impressions videos which also only require recording a relatively small amount of footage. See if there's a way for you to upload more raw footage to save yourself all that editing time and work. Now that I think about it, it seems like the way to keep your editing to a minimum is to base your commentary around your footage rather than your footage around your commentary, e.g. just discuss what's happening onscreen rather than trying to discuss a specific idea and then having to find footage to fit that point.
P.S.
Someone I don't see listed here that you might want to check out is RetroSnow. He does good reviews with an interesting middle-of-the-road style, by which I mean he's entertaining without putting on an obvious persona to do so.

Totalbiscuit's are the best, in my opinion. Other than him, no other YouTuber actually has been able to convince me to buy a game just based on a let's play. If you can be good AND satirical at the same time while sounding like you're enjoying a game, you can go far with let's plays. When it comes to anime though, I typically don't like to watch reviews, I'd rather not spoil it for myself.

If you're going to do reviews, then make good arguments with facts. Try to use the least possible of personal opinions, or only do it with constructive arguments.
Im watching a lot of Sidestrafe his videos, mostly because he has the same taste of games as me.

I see a lot of people mentioned TotalBiscuit. Well, my advise is, if you want to make reviews, don't do like him. What he does are first impressions, which I personally think are completely useless. Make sure you've actually played the game to a decent degree(preferably to the end, bonus content/higher difficulties are a big bonus). That way you would have developed a solid opinion about it. Be certain to get your facts straight and observe the situation surrounding the game(developers, approval of the players so far and so on). Don't whine(like TB does) about flaws but make critical statements about why something should be improved... Also, don't forget to throw in some jokes if you feel like it. :D
Personally I think Yahtzee is the best reviewer/comedian right now. But his style is more comedy with the review hidden in it than anything else. :D

The only review/commentary on video games I enjoy is zero punctuation (and that's a very casual form of reviewing as opposed to traditional formats). I don't mean so much the visuals, just the way in which it is delivered, pointing out faults with the game in a comical and satirical manner. I have other biases for liking his reviews too though so keep that in mind (like the fact our tastes are somewhat akin to one another, at least more so than any other famous reviewer at any rate).

I like Totalbiscuit's on youtube cause it shows game play and even what can and can't be done in the menus.
Basically when I am interested in a game, I look for actual game play reviews. I like ones that point out all the bad stuff along with all the good stuff in a game.
I really don't pay attention to any game mag reviews that happen before a game is released just because the majority suck up to the game makers and only give good reviews so that they can review future games from those companies. I even take with a grain of salt game mag reviews done after the game is released cause some of them will do the same as above to keep getting advertising dollars.

My stream is going live and well right now and I have a generally idea where I want to head it thanks to S.Gifts I have gotten some great idea's and feedback. Something that goes hand in hand with streaming is putting videos up on youtube as not only do more people watch videos on youtube they are less restricted by time and in general youtube video's are in higher quality.
So what kind of youtube videos do people watch, I don't really want to do let's plays as thats basically what my stream is so I figured I could do reviews of anime/video games.
What cons are there and what pros are there, and what format in general should I follow, any and all advice is welcome.
