I have a spare copy of Dark Souls 2 with no intention on what do with it.
I was thinking of doing a raffle selling tickets for $1 each, then inviting those users to a Steam group and use SteamGifts for the raffle.

It's probably breaking rules and stuff so don't jump on me please, only asking and would like some input on it.

And I'm not being totally greedy, here's a private giveaway for Papers, Please. I've also gifted a few decent games in the past but wont do DS2.

Thanks!

EDIT: I'm not gonna do it, it breaks the rules, leaving thread here for the giveaway though and for future reference if anyone tries to do the same.

"Rule #3: Do not ask for any sort of payment/exchange in order to enter a giveaway. This applies to group rules as well."

Alright, that does it then. I thought it might have broken some rule.
Well enjoy the giveaway!

What if someone creates group that requires payment and then someone creates giveaway on this site for that group? :)

Don't know where I'd offer it out to people apart from here.

Dirty actions like that would likely still get the ban hammer if reported.

It's ROW

Look at this. It likely has the cross region trading blocks as well.

ROW means Rest of the World. So to be precise (and thanks for the link) this copy works anywhere outside of:

Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Bahamas, Belize, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Paraguay, Suriname, El Salvador, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Not that I'm going to be doing this anyway as you and others stated it's against rules.

It is against the rules, as already mentioned. A shame some people could care less, as I've seen one member direct people towards his own site where he does his 'exclusive' giveaways. There, you would get the private giveaway link after paying. >:(

Like me, I don't think they would give the games away for free. And technically there's nothing wrong with it. A bit immoral when put next to this site, but a raffle is a raffle.

If you want to do a raffle, there are other ways that don't involve this site that aren't breaking rules.

I personally frown on them. Either you want to giveaway, or you want profit, which is where trading is the choice.

Yes I know why you frown on them, as said have gave away games before and made a giveaway just for this thread.
I'm just toying with the idea, I wouldn't be ashamed to profit from it though, and $1 is a small price to pay so wouldn't be ripping people off.

I see you've given quite a lot a way!! So understand more why you feel like this, hope I've redeemed myself by my giveaways too.

Not sure where you're located, but one thing to keep in mind is that in the US raffles are a form of gambling and thus each state has their own laws governing them. Many of them require that it actually be for a non-profit; keeping money for yourself would be illegal.

I see no problem with you raffling it off, but just don't use this site to do it. It would contrary to the spirit of this site. Just assign each raffle entry a number and use a Random Number Generator site to pick the winner.

I'm in UK, and this is starting to sound like a worse idea than I thought it would be, not going to bother doing it. Keeping thread here just for the giveaway.

That statement was applied to this situation only though, and it's true.

I appreciate the giveaway. At least you were reasonable enough to ask before you did something that might've run afoul of the rules.

How'd you end up with a spare copy of DS2, anyways?

Bit of an impulse buyer, I loved the first and know many others do, just want a spare copy in my inventory for whatever opportunity pops up where I can do something with it, and if nothing just give it to someone in need.
