I've already seen those games, but I've never thought they could be sold as a bundle on Steam. Is that decision from Steam or from developer?

Well, whoever made the decision, it's the job of a comedy genius!

Steam doesn't decide that stuff, the publisher/developer does

Steam leaves bundles fully in the hands of the developer/publisher. There's no need for anyone else's permission unless another publisher's games are included in the bundle.

Actually they are not the most expensive. There are 5 titles in $500-1000 range, that can be found on SteamDB and possibly some even more expensive, that can't be found in this way, as SteamDB limits top price to $999.98. And at least 1 of those (EVE Online: 20000 PLEX purchase) is legit. I doubt very much though, if anyone will create a GA for it.

Aw, damn, and that's legit... now I don't know if it's really funny or just sad.

Real devs got even further and are just like

It's not devs, it's players, that are willing to put at least tens of thousands of dollars into building their virtual empires in places like EVE Online. Probably old news already and surpassed in some other places, but still impressive - Battle of B-R5RB.

Moluk, the most expensive ship in-game, has been estimated in 2021 to be worth 500 Billion ISK (in-game currency), and 20000 Plex was like only 86 Billion ISK 2 years ago, so it's like $3.75k. One lost fight and it goes in smoke leaving you with nothing.

Yeah, that's why I said it may be sad. It may be an addiction as well. Still funny, though. And sad.

They did that @Aydaylin, this game https://store.steampowered.com/app/2193940/The_Hidden_and_Unknown/ was $1,999.90 probably money laundering ¯_(ツ)_/¯ @shortcakey at least they're honest and it's a fact that it's most expensive bundle on steam, I just think pretty odd selling them like if they were brand new triple-A. 😐
Price of individual products: $2,399.88
95% Bundle discount: 95%
Your cost: $120.00 <--- a hell of a discount tbh LOL
Here's what you save by buying this bundle $2,279.88 😂🤑

Oh yeah, those tactics are used to sell "98% positive reviews $40+ USD value" game bundles on shady reseller websites. (explained in the thread linked in the first reply to OP, IIRC)

it's a fact that it's most expensive bundle on steam

Nope, not even... https://steamdb.info/bundles/
11 bundles are over $1K, 2 of which are even over $1.5K.

That's where things get insanely funny, since they're sad at the same time. Some of them are real prices from real games made by real developers, but still look fraudulent! Sadly funny. Or should I say "dark humor"?

Wow Bump! 😵 glad to know that steam put some top price in games otherwise some people will start to sell their "games" for $10.000,00 each. The 11 bundles are insane, I didn't know about those tactics to hire people to make some positive review on a scam/money laudering game, the craziest thing is that most likely people fall for it and eventually buy them thinking they're good. 😶
@FranckCastle I can see 16 reviews on https://store.steampowered.com/app/2193940/The_Hidden_and_Unknown/ but the 11 bundles I myself cannot. 🥲

Oh boy, if only you knew. Scroll down a bit on this page to see the price history, and check that spike: https://steamdb.info/app/2204850/ Mitsukuni already linked it, lol.

To be honest, I think a fair amount of people buying those would be more for collection than actually just being scammed. But, yeah, quite a common practice. Its already been explained in several places including the thread, but basically: 1. Sell the game for dirt cheap on Steam, 2. Get people to buy the game and leave a positive review (buying reviews, or making the review a task for some giveaway), 3. Once they get 10+ reviews and the Overwhelmingly Positive thing, they increase the store price and step 4. They sell keys in bundles on websites like I described in my other message.

Anyway... To us common gamers, it's not really a problem (other than a waste of Steam's servers storage). To me, what's more concerning is that kids or even adults entirely new to computer games would end up buying those thinking they're a good deal... :/

overwhelmingly positive takes wayyyy more than 10 reviews to get.

I forget where mostly starts showing up, but very/overwhelmingly positive takes 50/500 or so reviews to start showing up.

My bad then, shouldn't have added the "Overwhemingly" part (I added it after re-reading my sentence).
I know the threshold for the positive/mixed/negative thing to show up is 10 reviews, though (less than 10 reviews will say the game didn't receive enough reviews yet).

Well... I'm working on a major update, so... thank you for your purchase and remember
Bob is love, Bob is life

Hahaha long life to Bob indeed https://steamcommunity.com/id/BobTheDeveloper
He is a retired man atm since this game used to be $999,999.99 about a year 🤪 some people said it was just $100.000.00 either way the major update didn't come yet, Bob is too busy living his dream in a private island. 😏

I wonder how much the whole bundle costs on sales. Imagine getting all those amazing games for, like, $5!

Permalink

Historical low: $0.59
Historical high: $999999.99

Whole bundle is probably even lower than $5. :)

I think I saw a Hede bundle like that, like a game is $4.59 (or something like that) and the bundle with 5-10 games was still the same price.

Now magine how the guys who bought the bundle are going to get their asses handed to them when they tell their boss that instead of buying these games on Steam over, they got an annual sub to the XBOX pass because it's way cheaper and you can get more games...

Ofc that means broadening the definition of "game" to just anything that sits in your Steam library. There are mobile asset flips that are more worthy of the title than these.
