Hey guys, I've been using steamgifts for about 7-8 months and am at a loss. I love the site, have entered 1,700 some giveaways, and even won one. I decided to celebrate that win by gifting a game on here as well. However as of right now I only have about 50 or so comments. I decided early on that saying "thanks" in every giveaway I entered seemed pointless as it just added to the long list of short trite comments; I figured I would personally thank the people of the giveaways I won (which I did).

This leads to my current debate. I am genuinely appreciative of all the people who put up giveaways and want them to know that. I realize that I haven't done that for the past several months. So I want to ask you, the steamgifts community, and especially those of you who are generous and gift many games the following:

What makes you feel appreciated?
Do you like the endless list of "thanks" comments?
What do you like to see from people who enter your giveaways?

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply! I want to make sure I am not being unappreciative and am perfectly willing to change my ways of entering giveaways if I need to.

I like it when people actually leave creative responses or responses on how they have played prequels to this game and have been excited for it, for a while etc.

I appreciate those who take the time to read the description, reply in a way that demonstrates that they've read it, and takes the time to thank the giveaway creator when they win.

Indeed, I tend to reply to people who post whacky things on my giveaways.

Thx.

Just kidding.

I don't go much for the being appreciated part other than the winner saying "thanks" when they win... but I enjoy it when people post something other than "thx" in the comments. You know, when the community actually talks to each other and stuff.

An endless list of thanks is okay, but I take my time to read comments that say more than an impersonal thanks.

Even if its just like "Thank you for another sneaky one!" and stuff. Something that isn't just "ty" or "thx" or "tnx" or "thankssss" and a bit more personal and meaningful. And I usually reply to them too.

I prefer people who thank if they've won the giveaway, or otherwise come up with a creative response. I tend to scroll over the dozens of "Thanks"

If i do, i ussualy never write the commnon responses like "thank you" "Ty" and "thx", It feels kinda soulless if you do that in every giveaway you enter.

I enjoy the comments that are unique. I have the script someone wrote to filter out all the "thanks" comments, so I don't even see them. I do usually glance through the comments and look for any good ones. Not that I dislike the "thanks" comments, I Just don't care about them at all. But honestly, as long as the person who actually WINS the game says something to me, I'm cool with it. But that's just manners 101.

Personally, I don't comment on every giveaway I enter, but when I do comment I make it something slightly more interesting than "thanks".

Whenever I create giveaways I always read each and every comment without fail. I always reply to interesting ones or ones asking questions. Maybe instead of just the "thanks", maybe "thanks very much, my friend plays this game quite a bit, looks interesting" etc etc. doesn't take much but personally I like to talk to people and read what they think regarding the giveaway or even whatever garbage they decided to write. Make it interesting for the gifter. Catch them off guard :D

Im not the greatest contributor, but heres my oppinion^^

I like creative posts, which make me smile. All these Thanks, ty, thx, thank you... posts are useless and its just annoying to scroll through them to find "good" comments.

I read the description of the giveaway and if they didn't say anything I don't say anything either. I don't like the "thanks" spam. I think it's stupid. If I win the giveaway I'll thank whoever anyway.

So yeah, if they bother writing a proper description I'll bother writing a proper comment.

I do like a simple and fast "thanks" in comments yes.

I never enter a giveaway without doing the same.

having said that I don't think it is a mandatory thing as I'm not an extremist, but I appreciate it, yes

If you look at most of my giveaways, you see that I try to make my descriptions something a little above and beyond. I have no care whatsoever for any "thank you" replies I recieve, but anything at all to show that they took the time to read the comment does let me know that it wasn't for nothing. As far as how I show thanks, I seldom actually do any kind of a "thank you" reply on a giveaway... I've thanked when I've won, and I thank people for the chances at winning by making giveaways myself.
