That is correct, however I am pretty sure by EU law the act of "raising" a price just before offering it at "discounted" or "sale" price is illegal.

I was agreeing with you that it was not Valve that raised the price cause it's up to the publisher?

Actually no I'm not confused. Steam/Valve is not the ones who set the prices.
If I own a building, and I rent a place to a to some person who makes glass flowers. Just before a big sale, the person who makes the glass flowers raises the prices so that they don't take as big of a hit as they would if they did not raise the price. I as the building owner do not have any control over the prices the person sells the glass flowers for but when asked, I make suggestions on what I think the prices should be. The person then sets the prices to what they think it should be.
Valve owns Steam (which would be the building). They "rent" space to the people who develop/make/publish/whatever the games for a percentage of what the developer/maker/publisher/whatever sell the game for. When asked, Valve/Steam makes suggestions on what the usual price for the type/size/quality of game should be and the developer/maker/publisher/whatever has the ability to set their own prices.
You seem to be trying to blame the building owner for the price going up when in face the building owner has nothing to do with setting the prices.
Don't believe me? Check google
https://www.google.ca/search?num=100&site=&source=hp&q=valve+set+their+own+prices&oq=valve+set+their+own+prices&gs_l=hp.3...2883.8602.0.8869.26.26.0.0.0.0.137.2369.12j11.23.0....0...1c.1.58.hp..8.18.1848.V3GxpIN7KAo

Now in this case, Steam/Valve is not just the building and building owner. They handle all the transactions and stuff for the developer/maker/publisher/whatever to make things easier. Again this does not make them responsible for the prices that are set by the developer/maker/publisher/whatever.
So again no, I'm not confused.

Lol, from pre-pre-alfa, to pre-alfa, good one. I don't see any justification for price increase at its current state though. Its been almost a year since I purchased this game, not much has changed. I would have understood that if they had introduced vehicles. But at the moment it seems that they just have gotten greedy.

Reminder that DayZ runs on valve time and not to buy it until it is complete.

Raising the price for a product, even without telling is no problem.
Raising the price just before sale and than offer a discount on that price is misleading advertising and prohibited by European law.

Sobs. In Brazil it was R$69,99 till other day. They released it at R$79,99 then lowered the price to be in the terms of the market here, now they make it even higher than they're release price..
There are $59,99 games that cost R$99,00..
Fun? fact: And just so u know, black friday in Brazil's stores, do that a lot. A lot of them start increasing price 1 month prior to it. Some make it double the original price to give 50% or less discounts.

Those DayZ devs are greedy liars... they haven't changed the game for a year and now are trying to rip as much profits as possibly while still doing nothing. Not going to buy this game for more than 7.50, lol

Ok, apparently it was told there would be price increases at some point.
And according to this guy, it was said the price would go up after the fall sale
Comment has been collapsed.
Why not keep the original price till the end of the fall sale then? Now people will think it's on sale when it's really the same price. When people see it's on sale they're more likely to buy it because they think it's cheaper, which is why it's misleading. If the price increase was indicated visibly on the store page, it would be perfectly fine.

there is no problem in raising the price of an article, but the way it was done is shady.
