about 5 months ago i sent this suggestion to support, they finally answered. they said that if the other site users support this suggestion, it might become a part of the site. here the suggestion:

i have noticed that a lot of massive giveaway events have risen all over the internet, each time one of these pops up there is a wave of giveaways on this site of all these games. usually, posts about these certain events go up in the forum, where a lot of people don't go, when the giveaways are created, the people who don't know about the event join them and waist their points, some of these giveaways manage to slip before they are taken down.

i wanted to suggest creating a section where users can post whenever there is a big giveaway event, these post wont be public until a person with the right authorities such as an admin confirms it and allows the post to go public, letting everyone know about the event, this will help people to find the events and to shut down the giveaways of the free games on this site.

Now my question to you is.... Should this be a thing? Should this be a section on the site?
thank you for you feed back, let us help our steam gifts brothers by making sure they catch all the free games!

Should this be a part of the site?

But time will be wasted, and huge giveaways like that run out of keys very quick. So maybe by the time the news reaches the public there won't be any keys left and it will be a moot point.

you have a point, but there are giveaways which are less limited, these giveaways are meant for every body, wouldn't we give them a
chance?
+there can be a system that when the give away is over, people press a certain button which if enough people pressed it, the give away dissapears from the section. and i am sure there are more sufficient solutions but that's what i found right away.

Also, I have an idea to the same effect - a page where users can report free games (not reports as in support tickets, just a page like the uncategorized undiscussion categorizer), and when the amount of reports reaches 500-1000 or smth like that it's automatically added as a free game and all GAs that started ~1 hour after game removal are also removed.

I fail to see the purpose of this suggestion.

You want new threads that involve a mass giveaway (via indiegala for example) to be in a certain section where only admins can see until they allow it to be public? You say this help people find the events but then why does it need to be allowed by the staff? To prevent mass giveaways of the free games? And what about other sources? How are you going to stop it from being advertised on reddit or anywhere else? Or what if someone posts it in the general forum? Are you going to punish them?

Easier solution: remove the game from the giveaway list, which is already being done.

Totally useless...i dont see the point in that..besides..staff should not have more work to care for...i guess they have enough things to take care of.

i don't think admin or mods should deal with this but maybe a new role like Bundler? of course unlike Bundler, it might be a good idea to make several people in charge of this instead of just one person, considering how fast massive giveaways comes and goes.

I'm in favor of this, it would be a lot easier for support to roll with the whole idea.

for all the people saying the admins shouldn't deal with this now, you are right, but as i said, they wanted to see if this idea is supported. this discussion is about whether this should even be worked on.
