I paid for my $50 donation and now it's $37 or something meaning I can't join all the giveaways I want...I think it's kind of BS that it drops just because the value of the game changed since you gifted it.

Regardless if it's purchased with a sale or not, it's still a matter of what it's worth at the time you give it away.
Your profile amount should NOT change just because the game has dropped in price due to it being out for a decent amount of time.

  1. If you're gifting games for contributor value then I don't think this site is for you.
  2. Also the game cost and contributor value are tied directly due to the Steam API.

These complaints are not exactly new. Certain topics work in cyclic form and are regular visitors here on forums.

give games for the sake of giving them, not for contributor value... if you honestly only care for the contributor value then give away more stuff and don't complain that your bundle games had their contributor value lowered (SR3 was in THQHIB so it got lowered)

yeah, bundle stuff does that...

Well his giveaways are 7 months old, so he probably didn't bought SR3 with the humble bundle D:

The value would be unchanged then.

Giving away actual games instead of bundle scraps usually overcomes this issue. Stop arguing against a well thought out system which someone has dedicated their free time towards creating.

Fortix never drops in value.

Want a contributor value that never decreases? Give away tons of Fortix!

Have to deal with it. If the price of the games goes down in the Steam store, so will your value. Also, after one year the giveaways you made wont give any value.

I've heard this before, but where is that noted?

It was suggested at some point, but I am almost sure that cg said it would not be implemented after all.

I can't see any good reason for them to do so.

People like to keep accumulating things, be it levels in an RPG, games in Steam library or SG contributor value, people don't like to just lose progress for no reason.

OMG, they should change "contributors points" to XP, and let us use them to level our characters! I could be a Chaotic Neutral Human Barbarian/Ranger. Then, we get to roleplay on the forums and can win some real loot if DM does not kill us all.

You should've learn physics at school better. It's winter, and under the influence of low temperature objects shrink. So it's only natural that your contributor value is now smaller, it will get back to its normal size at summer.

Science. It works, b#tches.

What about water?

Well, I probably should write about crystal lattice formation and stuff, but we all know the real reason behind why water expands when it freezes....

Gremlins O_O

Fool, everyone know that gremlins don't exist. The water expansion is obviously because of the "magic of True Love" (TM)

Though the "magic of love" (TM) actually affects this phenomenon, it has been scientifically proven to have slightly different shrinking/expanding rate (i.e. Carebear-Schroedinger factor), so it cannot fully explain the water expanding effect.

THEY want you to think that gremlins do not exist, but they do! ಠ_ಠ Open your eyes. Join the resistance!

Shows 45 to me which is exactly what it should be given Steam prices.

You have 45$ contributor value, so everything is OK. What is the problem?

My non-bundle giveaways have dropped in value around 3 times. Don't care.

Well now you have 44.98. See? Ain't so bad not, isn't it?

Value looks fine to me. And I don't think they change the values retroactively, because if they did, my value would be lower too. It seems like all the indie games I give out find themselves into bundles not too long after I give them away :\
