It's great that you never gave it up.
And glad the games didn't let you down.
Don't agree with a few takes, but hey that doesn't mean I'm going to run and desert this thread.

Which of my hot takes didn't you agree with, haha. Unrelated to this, but it was a choice between Village and 7 for that 3rd spot. I almost put seven in, but while I did love the survival horror, I just had more fun with Village, and I think it's due to how great the level design is, plus more unique enemies to fight. So, despite it not being that great when it came to its horror, it did everything else right. Also, big lady...
And thanks for reading :)

This was a fun read. It had cool design, and it was a very different vibe from "proper" game reviews, with clearly a lot of your own humour and personality thrown in! Also made me more interested in Remnant than I was before. And I'm still getting RickRolled in 2024 :(

Hopefully, you enjoy it as much as I did. While my passion for gaming has only recently been ignited, truly, by Tekken 8 (for some unknown reason, I'm not a fighting or Tekken fan), Remnant was I would say, aside from Batman, the only other game in 2023 that I wanted to play more of after having to stop and sleep, haha.

Thank you for the word of wise sages. It was beautiful and what I need in my life.

A bit of a spoiler for that part: the text, the kanji you see on the side of the pages is actually another rick roll, haha. That's the "Never gonna give you up" part of the song, but in Kanji. But since I didn't know how to make that text copyable so people could translate it, I thought of this. I would have them appear on the side, perhaps garner some interest from the reader, and then collect them all at the end, offering to "translate" it. All in all, I think it did a good job of spreading the gospel of our lord Roll and some good vibes as well.

Indeed. Shame the studio shut down. All their RTT games were super fun. Need to play their newest one, which promised to depart from the formula quite a bit and do some new things.

Well done, reminded me of the old paper gaming magazines we used to read.
The poll should had been "Dog is a Cat?" Yes, No, Both.

Congratulations for the design and the hard work writing this.

After countless hours of labor spent over the past 6 months, this passion project of mine is finally done. Now all of you lovely people can experience it (hopefully it will be a pleasant one). Three things served as inspiration for this little undertaking of mine: a Reddit post I saw some years ago, ShillUp's reviews in PDF format exclusive to his Patreon (dunno if he still does this), and my time with SGM (SteamGifts Magazine) last year. They all shared one thing—delivering to users that old-school gaming magazine feel. But mine isn't really a gaming magazine (like the Reddit and SGM things) it's closer to ShillUp; it's a fun way I found to commemorate my Game of the Year list for 2023.
And I chose to do this for the top five games I played last year, diving into completely new territory to accomplish that goal—graphic design. It offered me a completely new and fun creative outlet compared to the simplistic and limited nature of Steam's review system. I had tons of fun testing the limits of what is and isn't possible here. As this is my first undertaking in this field, any feedback is welcome. Hopefully, I didn't let any silly mistakes get past me. I edited this for the past day or so, like a madman, making sure it's perfect for the public eye.
Enjoy!

Note: If you're gonna use your phone to view this, I would ask you to view it in landscape mode. Certain parts were made with that view in mind (two pages together) and will not look good (may even look broken) if you view it in portrait mode (one page only). Also, if you see the page taking time to load, give the website some room to breathe and load all my crazy things in, as the PDF alone was 770 MB, and I added some extra stuff via Heyzine's own editor.
