Just a heads-up...using a VPN in conjunction with PayPal is highly unadvised. PP has been known to lock accounts for users doing this, and it's explicity against their ToS.

Thanks for the heads up. Anyone play it? Is it any good?
Edit:
If anyone else is interested in what the deluxe edition has:

Here is an article which does a good job of detailing the limitations of the DM / dungeon creation features.
The rest you may wanna watch a quick gameplay video for, since that's really up to your own tastes, and common reviews on the gameplay are pretty split (though they generally trend to favorable, once you remove reviews criticizing the limited DM features and the limited focus on D&D mechanics; there are some bug issues as well, though I believe most of them were fixed early on). For what it's worth, all the SG contacts who have the game that I've spoken to have recommended it.

This article almost convinced me it wasn't worth it, but after reading a little more, it looks like this is old info.
For example, ambient NPC text was added in Community Pack Two, which solves one issue raised. There seem to have been some other changes, and apparently it's also possible to mod the game. That said, it still looks pretty limited, and modding isn't well documented.
So I'm still on the fence.

I played and completed this game last year. I loved it. I had no issue with paying full price after buying it pre-release and no complaints about it. I only played single player except for one session of multi-player (which worked well). I played around 60 hours so for the current price that's a steal in my view.

The offline mode is available since the release. Maybe you're thinking of Neverwinter?

All I can find through Google is a single E3 article stating such, though the author was immediately called out on it and removed the claim from the article later on. Near as I can tell, it was just a misunderstanding over the game not having local multiplayer (which, what non-console D&D game past the 90s has had that anyway?) and some people accidentally creating public games instead of setting up single-player ones, meaning they kept getting pug joins.

I am not too sure what exactly you mean. Do you want to know if the game can be played with Steam being offline? Haven't tested it yet, but will try it this evening.
But I can assure you that no external account is needed.
If you want to play multiplayer tho, this is online only.

Our publishing contracting is ending, but although Sword Coast Legends will no longer be available to purchase after December, its multiplayer servers will remain live indefinitely.
Seems that the online servers for multi-player won't go down anytime soon. Just the game for sale.

5-pack
DIGITAL DELUXE EDITION CAMPAIGN $21.10
INCLUDES: 5 copies of Sword Coast Legends via Steam, Tome of Knowledge, Order of the Burning Dawn Cloak, Armor and Weapons, Beholder (DM use), Lost Mines dungeon tile set (DM use), Wisps (DM use cursors), Hero Forum Badge, DM Forum Badge, Game Soundtrack (Digital))

It's worth noting that what you're linking to is the deluxe campaign pack, not 5 copies of the deluxe pack.
(Just so noone goes in expecting 5 digital deluxe copies.)
Digital Deluxe Campaign Pack Includes the Following:
• 4 Extra Standard Edition Steam Game Keys to share with your friends and start your Dungeon Party
• 1 Digital Deluxe Steam Game Key for yourself
Given that the Digital Deluxe is all DM and cosmetic and bonus features, there isn't any real need for more than one Digital Deluxe copy among your party anyway- so for most people, this'd be the ideal purchase regardless. :)

There is no advantage to buying the pack over buying the games separately on GamersGate.
4 Standard copies (15 x 4 = 60) plus 1 Deluxe (20) is exactly 80 bucks.
Might as well buy the game from Steam, just in case you want to refund.
Update Just took a look at the official website - since the total price is 70$, it seems to be the cheapest option.

It's not only $10 cheaper on retail, it discounts lower (75% vs 66%).
Calculating off the discount prices listed on Gamersgate, you'd pay 26.40 versus 21.10 if you were to get the games individually- meaning you're effectively getting a standard game for free (at its discount price), plus a 30 cent further discount.
On the other hand, Steam's pricing is exactly 1 cent cheaper (for each of Standard or Deluxe), so if you want a single copy, Steam is in fact a whisper cheaper.

is that 1 steam key that gives 4 copies to inventory or 5 steam keys

There's also been thousands of other games that people may have wanted to pick up in that period that could have been a higher priority for any number of reasons.

Yes. As stated in the announcement Digital Extremes publishing contract is ending and as such they'll no longer be able to sell the game.

It does happen but it really isn't a common occurrence and there are a number or reasons why its unlikely in this case.
Two games that did come back somewhat recently are Deadpool and Mafia. Deadpool's initial removal was also due to an expired license but unlike the other Marvel titles that Activision published that were removed at the same time Deadpool was re-licensed to coincide with the films release. Mafia was also a licensing issue but in this case it was only licenses for music so all they had to do was remove that content from the game. Digital Extremes can't go that route as pretty much the entire product is licensed.

again an "attention this game will be removed buy buy buy !!! " ...

I do not like the idea of, "our external servers will be up indefinitely."
If they had patched that external service out of the game and gone full-Steam, maybe. But not like this, not like this.

Thanks, looks interesting. I grabbed a copy from gamersgate.

A period without set constraints, hardly a good thing.
Could be a week, could be 10 years, could be 5 minutes.
We cannot know.
Comment has been collapsed.
But you have a certain security with Steam not falling in a couple weeks, on the other hand a company that can't afford the license of its own game and they're required to pull it down... could it really maintain servers live for a decade or is it just marketing? Of course they won't say you "don't buy folks, servers out on summer".
Comment has been collapsed.
Indeed, I don't go subscribing to a service I literally will not have any idea of the lifespan of.
If the game did not require their external servers, and instead just did the smart thing and was hosted on the GM's computer, then things would be fine.
But no, they went and got the Internet and their servers integral to the the game.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, yeah. This game exists. Barely two years old but completely forgot about it. Based on those sales numbers, so did everyone else. I am almost surprised they could afford the otherwise infamously ridiculous WotC license fees for even two years.

From what I've read, If you liked classics like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights in singleplayer, probably.

Hmm ... I played that one on a free weekend. I liked the story (as far as I got in three days), the graphics seemed nice and detailed, but the combat seemed a bit unbalanced... fairly random, saving before a fight and doing the same things yielded quite different results. I'm not sure if that's because the game's not true enough to the D&D ruleset or even too much. Back then, I decided to get the game at some point when it's cheap. As it probably won't get any cheaper, I'll probably pick it up during the Steam holiday sale (it'll be for sale until the end of the month, which includes the Steam sale, right?) unless there's some really good deal I rather pick up instead (unlikely, considering the last Steam sales). I just wonder if I should buy the deluxe edition, probably no, what do you think?
Comment has been collapsed.
Indeed that's very cheap. But the site's probably in Russian ... shocker!
Also $2.34 on Paypal, is still money. Steam wallet's free from selling those cards and I probably won't know what else to buy during the Steam Holiday sale anyway. And do I really need the deluxe edition? I don''t care about soundtrack or forum stuff. I think I'll wait until then, but thanks for telling me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Okay, so if I buy that 5 pack is it five different keys or one key that gives me gift copies? Not that it matters either way, I do have a gift copy and in a year or two that will probably be worth something to a collector. Hmm, what to do.
Comment has been collapsed.
After reading and watching some DM stuff, I'm leaning towards buying the campaign pack. My son enjoyed playing with the RPG Maker XP editor and decorating his house in Disney Infinity 3.0, and this should hopefully spark enough interest to get something more interesting done. Plus I could create short adventures for my kids. It's tempting.
