Don't you think that only people who write a comment should have a chance to win ?
I think that yes, because it shows how thankful they are and it shows they care about the owner of the giveaway and they show that they care about the money spent for them on the giveaway ..
What is your opinion ?

I don't think it should be essential. Some people just paste it, does that really show their gratefulness? I personally read the description, if something is asked I answer to it, if not I simply say thanks, however I say it in a variety of ways, not just a meaningless "Thanks".

Then people would all just comment. Long term, it's the same thing...

Well... people who actually won that game will most likely say thanks when they receive the email containing the key.

And I think it would just lead to spam when everybody says 'thanks'.

Having someone be genuinely thankful when they have won a game is more desirable to me than to have someone mindlessly spam 'thanks' on a giveaway out of little other than an unwritten social contract of insincere politeness.

Please, people, realise finally that everything is alright the way it is now. Don't screw up anything. If somebody wants to contribute, let them contribute. If somebody just wants to leech, let them leech. That's why there is the possibilty to make contributor values as "entry fees". Full stop.

Couldn't disagree more. I spam "thanks" because it's the way things are done around here to get pts and if someone reads their giveaway and want to be thankful. Should it be required? nope.

Well, this is just gambling, so who ever says thank you to the casino. Its all just in good fun, we just take turns being the casino.

I think you should use your brain from time to time.

it shows how thankful they are - no

they care about the owner of the giveaway - no

they show that they care about the money spent for them on the giveaway - no

Most comments are: "Thanks!"... probably just raising comment numbers to appear more trustworthy?..

I think not saying thank you on a giveaway doesn't matters that much, of course it's nice to see thankfull people in the comments, but the only "thank you" that matters is the winner's when he receives the game.

I disagree. I'm quite new to this site and when I see AAA-gifts, I wondered why the only comments are "thanks" in some variations - I've seen no sincere thanks, something personal so one can see that it's not a copy/paste or script. (I would really appreciate that!)
There are many professional traders in this forum so especially those gifts are competed for by them. And by setting a contributor-limitation absolutely no professional is excluded.
Its the opposite case: People who dare to participate in certain titles they maybe can't afford etc have (almost)no chance of winning anything if you set a minimum of 2k$. Professionals, though, can boost every account of theirs just by GAing bundle titles that are worthless for trade...

Most of the times ppl dont comment at all.

That's ridiculous. Here's what that would accomplish:

  1. Increased spam. (Forcing everyone to say "thanks" = "thanks" spam.)

  2. SteamGifts would run slower because everyone would be spamming at once.

  3. No one would ever bother to actually say anything thankful anymore because no one would ever bother to read through all the spam to find anything meaningful.

Ty/thanks or so is just spam. Yeah, most people are probably grateful that they get (a small) chance to win. But this gives me an idea. Stay tuned! I just need to get my GA confirmed so I can make some more :D
