I doubt that this has anything to do with your problem.

I doubt your internet limit is 10mb o.o

If you are on a limited internet it'll be a few gb at least. What Raik means is you have reached the end of you quota and your ISP is now throttling your connection and Steam might be crashing.

Imo, it's not that that is causing the crash at all, but I don't know what it is. Sorry.

I was using Steam client with some "flickering" hotel w-lans.
Steam client went online and offline and I admit that it was annyoing how long it would take until the client realizes that there's an internet connection, but it never crashed.

I know what you mean, as I said though, I doubted it was connection problems causing it to crash.

I have had problems loading Steam before when my internet is feeling particularly slow. Not had it crash through connection problems though.

Except for the part where I say that I don't think it is the connection that is causing a crash.

O.O dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it has notting to do with crashing things LOL you can reach a limit if your internet is on a FLASH ONLY THEY HAVE LIMITS of usage while if its a cable OR MODEM OR WIFI its UNLIMITED YOU CAN USE IT AS MUCH AS YOU WANT but you have limited speed like for an example mine is 30Mbit down and 20Mbit UP = ~4400kb/s down and around 2200kb/s up

You can try the following:

1) set your Steam client to NOT sign in to the community on start
2) set your Library as your start page (instead of the Steam Store)

Idea behind this:
1) the client will not have to handle the sign in/sign off of your friends and all the notification stuff that comes with it.
2) In case of a problem with JavaScript or Flash, this will prevent to load the Steam store, unless you open it manually.
