Perhaps there needs to be a BIG ASS window when you make a giveaway, that reads out in big letters:
Which would only appear if you have made less than 1 Received giveaway (as in, 0 giveaways or 1 not received giveaway)

No kidding, More and more things getting out of control now. We need a better system...
We should create a group of legit sg members lol. Old ones, ones that are active and been here long enough since the mods and admins were still watching this place.

won't help. there will still be people which little brothers create fake giveaways while they're away, or they don't speak good english/german/french/gibberish or they credentials were stolen by an evil hacker who then created all the giveaways. The only solution to this is a banhammer, first for a week, then permanently.

no, they would just come up with some other excuse. there is nothing wrong with the creation system, except maybe that there isnt enough punishment for creating fake ones. so people are making fake ones for the points and coming up with flimsy excuses. no matter how many verification windows you put up, it wouldnt stop them. You just have to have more moderation, perhaps have every giveaway with for anyone with less than 2 or 1 giveaway have a stop put on it until it is reviewed by a moderator and maybe verified they have the gift to give away.

I mostly check their profiles.. if they're new, I see if they have the game on their library. If it is there, with their inventory not visible, I won't enter.
Comment has been collapsed.
Eh, don't care. Most of the giveaways I enter I don't have to check since the user have given stuff before.

I am assuming you haven't checked this page yet : http://www.steamgifts.com/stats
But yes, you are true about one notion that the quality is downhill and something has to be done real soon.

Worse are people commiting feedback frauds. I think I saw a guy who marked two 2-entry SEGA Hit Collections and three 2-entry PopCap Complete Packs as "received" without ever redeeming the games, only to increase someone else's contributor score. :-/
Comment has been collapsed.
And what do you think I've been doing for the past few days everytime I saw someone like that? :-) I think I caught this guy back when it was only two PopCap packs, but the (almost non-existent at the moment) support can't keep up.

I am here for one month only and I think the time to leave is closing way faster then I ever thought.
If the admin doesn't take precautions about creating giveaway and cross checking about activating them on the receivers end, I will surely leave.

cg (the admin) said he was working on a) improving the support/moderator infrastructure, and b) implementing a system to check if the gifts were really received. The question is, how long will it take? (And why on earth was it necessary to basically switch off any modding before b) was in place.) The best thing to recommend now is probably patience.

Exactly. If you haven't noticed, most people don't like to read.

But to just click enter and exit out? I mean damn...
I bet they read titles for news and consider themselves knowledgeable for that subject and don't bother actually reading the article.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep. Many of us have been saying that forever.
But there is nothing we can do. Except report and watch nothing happen.
I have like 10 reports submitted in support. Some are 2 weeks old...

for real !
(yeah, I know... says the guy who just arrived, I do what I can to help in every way)

Just look at the top contributors list there is like 4 people in same group doing fakes and only 3 or 4 real people who give away games on it :/
Reported anyway guess will have to wait saved the profiles anyway to laugh later when their banned :)

The sad thing is, by the time "support" ("" because support is 1 person) gets around to it, these people have already won games from their inflated contributor value that they should not have and added them to their steam account or traded them off to profit. Even if they get banned, they don't care, they'll just make more fake accounts to profit from since it takes weeks to get banned.
I've reported a person who's re-gifted the last 4 of their wins, over a week now and nothing has happened to them. Meanwhile, they profit by continuing to win low-entry giveaways with their large contributor value.

This site is as good as dead. It's overrun by assholes that are constantly padding their account value through free games, betas etc. and the fake giveway trolling has gotten substantially worse. Nothing is being done about it. I only wish that i hadn't wasted giving away 3 games on here. The moderation and support on this site is a fucking joke.

well, saw it happening in many other sites or networks.
I understand every bit of your comment and sadly you're speaking the truth, but let's give a few more time to cg to code proper good without pressure then the banhammer will swing fast, I made dozens of reports from that damn steelseries spam and I can tell you some have already been "cleaned up".
Unless you gave 3 games to leecher morons you should not regret it, the ones I gave were received by good people.
I'm here for them, the good people of the community, in case of leecher alert I just will request a re-roll even facing being suspended.

We need a feature to report comment and an automated system to bury them.
I mentioned some protocols on another thread that could be implemented to prevent fake giveaways.

Even when there actually was a support there still were fakes but think whats different the people who somehow make a mistake giveaway are able to be taken down when they submit a ticket.
Also im not gonna check every one of my 1600 entries to see if there real.

This site needs new support people, what's taking so long? I also don't enter a giveaway unless they have a positive feedback rating or if its contributor only.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sending group giveaways increase your contribution value ? I thought not...

Probably. At least you seem to be right when you say this site needs more support. For at least one month now the support seems to be one person (cg?). Shit is not dealt with fast, and more shit happens subsequently.
Still, I think OP's post is useless for what it wants to do. It's good-hearted, it's generally good advice, but not a single fake giveaway-er will ever read it.

unfortunately, i'm afraid ptival is quite correct about this matter. But still i do understand this matter of frustration that sometimes just has to be shared with 'good' people.
I think as long this site is not having the support it had before, it's just a lost cause to try getting rid of the fake ones.
On the other hand, i think you did a good job asking the ones to add the description and contact support, however this might not be helpful if there isn't the certainty on support.
I believe that people who keep entering the giveaway and spam thanks without even caring to read the description just get what they deserve for being so careless

SteamGifts.com needs more moderators or volunteers for support.

Did you know that even if a giveaway is suspicious, that doesn't mean it's fake? Yes, there are many times when the giveaway is truly fake, but there are also plenty of times where people who have posted, on the giveaway, "FAKE!" have been wrong. There's a thing called trust, and not let it get overridden by suspicion and hate. I'm probably going to be yelled at by some person for some reason, and they're going to tell me how I'm completely wrong and that I should shut up. I'd like to point though that both of the OP's giveaways were Puzzle Kingdom, a game included in Indie Gala 5.
Also, I don't understand why people get so butt hurt when a giveaway is fake? I mean, is it really that detrimental to your life? No. Just forget about and move on. Yea, it's a waste of points, but you get them back. It's not as if you lost anything.

Just look at the latest giveaway I won, that should be proof enough that these accusations should never happen. Sure, there are some people who make "giveaways" because they think it's the game they're going to win or something, but not all of them are like that.

So I saw some giveaways (NOT GONNA LINK EM TO AVOID CALL-OUT) and I checked the submitters. Registering less than a week ago, entering less than 50 giveaways, making less than two comments... One good giveaway even has someone with 0 entered giveaways!
According to their Steam profiles, no inventories even.
Still, thousands of entries, a shitload of "thanks" but noone bothers checking.
I encourage you all to be more suspicious of giveaways that you see.
I added the two suspicious people but they didn't accept yet... sigh
EDIT:
I can confirm that one of the two people who I added made a mistake. I got them to enter the giveaway descriptions and to contact the support.
