Old csgo gift can activate counter strike-2 prime?

So some of my friends wanted to get cs2 prime status, We met a trader online with old csgo gifts and he gave a reasonable price. But he is not sure it will activate prime status or not. If anyone knows or activated the old csgo gift kindly share your experience.

Buying Prime Status gives him prime status.

The only gift that could do that would be a Steam game code key like he might find on SteamGifts :)
