what I tried:
-cache verfified
-appcache directory deleted
-beta test version of steam is turned off
-rebooted PC
-startup parametres w/h used

if I start cs-go.exe game started but in 'safe mode' - no official vac servers, I think maybe this is problem with steam or vac?

yesterday morning I had same but at the evening game worked ok, do u have any idea?

*UPDATED: I can't launch ANY Valve Game - no cs 1.6, source halflife - same unknown problem!

UPDATED: problem suddenly resolved, I don't know how!

That's the problem, you're not wanting to do it so you are trying to find ways as to why it isn't the answer.

The first thing I would have done is uninstall and reinstall the game, everything is saved on the cloud you won't lose a thing and it will more than likely fix the error you have.

What kind of "unknown error|"? Try to check disk for bad sectors, also it might help if you remove local game content and re-download the game. Also i don't know should i say about having all system files on their place, latest drivers etc.

Try opting in or out of Steam client beta and then verify game cache.

do you have settings in "set launch options" ???? , if yes delete them and launch game ( also a cfg, delete that from cfg folder and make a back up copy)
this helped me with an error in the past

Why ask for advice when you do not seem to be following/using the answers given?

Also...windows xp. You really need to upgrade to an OS that hasn't been abandoned.
