TL;DR I have a ToD in my inventory that is not tradable and not marketable. It's not the 1 week trade lock and I bought it from the official Steam market. Wth?

One and a half weeks ago I wanted to 'buy' Just Cause 2 for 1 ToD from someone on Steamtrades. He was a really nice person because I didn't have a ToD back then and he offered me to give me the game immediately and let me pay later once the 1 week trade lock for the ticket I wanted to buy from the market was over. So I bought the ticket and a red message appeared in the item's description telling me that it wouldn't be tradable or marketable until one week later - just like expected.

Now, one and a half weeks later it came to my mind that I didn't pay what I promised yet so I made a trade offer. But the ticket was not in my TF2 item list. I checked my inventory and the ticket was there, but it had 'not tradable' and 'not marketable' in the description. No red letters with a date (the week long trade lock was over a few days ago already). It looks just like any other regular item that can never be traded or sold on the market no matter what.

Why? This is completely ridiculous, I traded a lot of ToDs already and most importantly I bought that ticket on the official Steam market from a random Steam user. How is that even possible? Is it some kind of bug?

I would appreciate any info on this matter.

The only thing I can think of is - did you buy anything inside of TF2? Do you have "Premium"?

In case nothing else comes to your mind, you gotta think of a different way to pay off your debt..

I didn't buy anything in TF2, neither do I have premium. I don't even have TF2 installed. I bought it from the market for ~€0.8.

I have other means to pay my debt and I most certainly will, but this is quite annoying and I feel ripped off since Steam took my money and invalidated the item I bought afterwards for no apparent reason. Even if it's only a small amount of money - this shouldn't happen.

Happened to someone I know, It was just a BUG, he then gave me the item through the trade window and then I gave it back to him and then it was fixed.

Problem is it doesn't even appear in the list of available items in the trade window.

First I'd say check if it's maybe just a small bug and you can actually trade it.

You have to launch Team Fortress 2 and then it will become tradeable and marketable. I had the same problem and this solved my problem.

Yeah, I heard about something like this, but with dota 2 "treasure keys".

OP, google "jengerer item manager", it's really light and will allow you to simulate running tf2. (Or you can use good old appid trick, too).

At MvM release (or somewhere close) Valve gave everyone 1 trade/market locked ToD.
