Top Single Player missions to try (if shying away from the awesome campaign):
- Ambush (A true classic. Played it hundreds of times. The first preview screenshot in PC magazines was taken from this one)
- Steal the Car (The 1st OFP mission most people ever played, me included)
- Warcry (Here´s me cheating a little bit in it)
- Bomberman (getting the placement of the satchel charges right is sooo satisfying!)

oh steam page says it released 2011 so I thought it looked pretty bad for being 10 years old. 20 years makes sense now.

yeah, I think it was a steam re-release. It was originally named Operation Flashpoint, but the rights for the name went to the publisher later (forgot to circumstances but I think they had just sold them), and they had to change the name of the game. Might be that with the change of the name they stuck to then current date as the official release.
Or it might be something completely unrelated and it does not really matter. Just wanted to say that for it's time it was a pretty epic game with huge maps and fairly realistic action. I remember being in awe as a kid when I had first seen it. ^^

Yea I would have been into a game like this 20 years ago. I used to play Day of Defeat back in the day. But now it's too hard to look at these graphics hehe.

Oh crap, I didn't realise Arma 1 was Operation Flashpoint.
Once you got past the tutorial and the controls sank in, that game was amazing (even if the graphics didn't age well). So much love for the strategy and tension.
