I find it perplexing that people still find it necessary to criticise others who give things away for no reason other than generosity.
Especially people with little to no history of giveaways.

"with no reason other than generosity", that is a mistake. They make the giveaway just to raise their contributor level and enter more giveaways...
And if you talked about me in the other sentence, I create giveaways based on how many times I've won. I've won once (not including developer giveaways), So I made one giveaway (not including that one DLC)

If you and I were the only people left in the world, then you would be the only one who find this annoying.

Does it even matter at all? Like, who cares how long the giveaway is.

Usually when people create giveaways for big and new game (like Borderlands the pre-sequel), they make the giveaway last for about 4 weeks (which is the maximum). I am fine with that - they invested a lot of money on a AAA game which was not on sale yet, and they deserve the appreciation. What I find annoying is when people create giveaways on games they got for free (like XCOM EU), and make that giveaway 4 weeks long. I personally think that they do not deserve much appreciation for spending 1 minute to vote for a few games and get a free game to giveaway. I know that it's their giveaway and they can do what ever they want with it, but still I think they should be reserved for big giveaways (or small, just nothing they got for free or at a 95% discount)
