I'm not sure what the purpose of this is. There's already steamgifts group chat on Steam. Although I do kind of miss the chat that used to be built into this site.

well the purpose of it is to chat :D, i chose steamgifts to test it on since it is where i am most active, and if it gets used so be it, i hate steam chat :D
