They're entirely different games, I personally would compare Dead Island to Borderlands. Except with mainly melee weapons. There are guns but ammunition is limited.

ammo is not that limited if you find the mods and just buy bleach and metal scraps ^^

True, but I only reserve my bullets for special zombies (like the Thug or Fat Bloater). The rest can EASILY be killed without guns.

Dead Island is almost entirely focused on melee (swords, maces, chainsaws, etc), guns are not that important. Its slower paced, and has more rpg features (character progression).

EDIT: like Borderlands, but without the guns, as above poster said.

Dead Island is a real hit or miss game. I really enjoy the game, got 20 hours of co-op in it. If you like Dead Rising games with a FO3 style of looting everything you see gameplay. You'll enjoy this game.

If you go in expecting to shoot tons of zombies in the face, you'll probably think this game is too slow and boring.

They don't resemble each other at all. Payday: The Heist is like L4D.

Dead Island Solo = Worst Game EVER! With some friends in Coop it can be a little bit fun. Same like Left 4 Dead - solo terrible waste of time and in Coop its OK.

DI is one of the worst game released lately(ish). Only thing I see similiar to L4D2 are zombies. You can compare it to Burn! ZOmbie burn! beczuse there are zombes there too.....

Got the point? :)

Just cause u dont like it doenst make it a bad game (game had bad release with bugs, which they fixed but I dont see people trashing Bethesda games for the same thing). For me Dead Island is 10x better than L4D2, because L4D2 is too repetitive for me (and also it was missing good atmosphere of the first game, and it was generally much brighter game) - in Dead Island you have great co-op and big sandbox map and killing of zombies is just more fun - you can cut then, shoot them, stab them, crush them or even electrocute/poison and set them on fire by custom weapons. And I like rpg system in these kind of games, because you can customize character for exatly the type of combat you want to use.

People hate on Dead Island a lot, but my friends and I really enjoyed it. I put 41 hours into playing it, mostly co op. I'll admit, by yourself its sort of boring and depressing, but playing with friends is where this game really shines. If you love zombie related things, and co op rpgs, then you'll like Dead Island.

Probably not, to any of you. Although it contains zombies, it isn't like either game in any real way. Dead Island isn't bad, but I don't know many people that were interested in playing it more than once. I'm some kind of circus freak though, and after grinding out all the achievements (which took somewhere around 50 hours) I ended up playing through it with 3 people who had never finished it on their own (which was also something a lot of people had in common.) I think I'm somewhere around 90 hours in game, but most people I've checked on only get to about 3 if they're on their own, maybe 9-10 if they are playing with a friend.

KF is a round-based survival FPS more similar to L4D(2) where your resources matter. Dead Island is a single storyline through 4 acts of gameplay that can be repeated. Resources are best done at the start, where you find anything and everything you can to bash zombies over the head, hoping it doesn't break before you find another weapon or the current zombies are all dead, and it is amazing. By act 2, you start having far more than you need to fight zombies, and by the end your electrified super-katana that makes zombies heads explode regardless of where you hit them just totally ruins the experience.

Don't get it if you're expecting anything even similar to KF or L4D(2), and if you do get it, I'd honestly suggest avoiding the crafting system until/unless you're having a hard time getting through some content.
