What did you think of Sea Of Thieves?
Maybe in couple of months, they add progression and fix the goddamn bugs it might be fine. But as of right now, it's pure crap and not worth your time at all IMO.

Fair enough. I think striking while the iron is hot is good. I'm quite disliking their "Balancing Tweaks". Classic MMO pitfalls of doing major nerfs and boosts reactionary style. Like the respawn distance becoming more extreme, effectively destroying PvP. No one wants to engage anymore. It was a short sighted change that should have been sorted out in beta.

You are so wrong. Skeletons have different color Bandanas now, and sometimes different glowy eyes. Much differences! :P

It's hard for me to think about a sea of thieves. You would have to melt a huge lot of thieves to fill a place you can call a sea. Yuck.

Nice literal pun. Truly disgusting and violent. You get a thumbs up from me.

I was super duper pumped about it a year ago. It's a fun enough game, but said fun is only good for a few hours before it's just rinse/repeat.
We really just need another Sid Meier's Pirates!

I played it for 2 weeks on PC with the free Xbox game pass trial. It was fun, but I feel like after the 2 weeks were up, I pretty much saw all the content multiple times. The 4 man boat was fun and hectic at times, but not enough to hold me to actually shell $60 for it. If they have a huge update, I'd probably just buy the game pass for a month and try it again.

This is a good point. They need to hardcore start with some content. Start some events, or substantial addition quickly. Or else this game is going to die on the vine very quickly.

I played it back in the beta before they added different quests and a friend had pioneer access. We played the game quite a bit and I've put at least 15-20 hours into the game. It was extremely fun at first because I've never played anything like it before, however since the beta release a few months back they have added little to nothing. The only new things that I can think of are the Kraken, the animal quests, and the gunpowder barrels. (may be a few others, I haven't kept up with updates) Honestly, I think the game is a waste of money because most of the world is empty and the whole game just seems like a fetch quest simulator. It could be that I just don't enjoy that type of game, but I absolutely do not believe that they can justify a $60 purchase for the limited amount of content that is currently in the game. I could see maybe a $30 price tag, but in the current state, I can not recommend the game because it is barely different from the beta from two months before release.

I can't disagree with anything you've said. It's all pretty accurate. Which is part of what upsets me about the game, because it is good. It's got some good mechanics and feel, and the interactions can be fantastic. But they are slowly getting less frequent. It's like having all these amazing tools, with nothing to use them on.
They've made some recent changes which are decent. A little more control about picking up and dropping items. You don't simply drop items where you stand, you drop them in front of you a bit. If you jump and drop, they got dropped further ahead of you. It seems minor, but is adding a lot of variation. Like you can now drop a gunpowder barrel OFF your ship, without having to jump off your ship yourself. Climb to high areas or cliffs, and drop chests and loot down. It's making quality of life better, but barely anyone knows about it yet. It was annoying that you climb up to a high area, get more than 1 loot item, and have to travel back and forth for each. Now you can get to a cliff or shortcut area and drop the item, without dropping yourself. Instantly made the game much more rewarding. Though implementation is a bit sketchy. If there is a slope, items get stuck on the slope like they have no gravity. It all feels very early access and not well optimized, but at least it's progress.
Is the progress coming fast enough though? I don't think so. They've got interest and players, and they really need to strike while the iron is hot, or there will be a mass exodus of people leaving.

While I have not played the game, I have watched a friend play many hours on Twitch... Too many hours. He certainly enjoys the game immensely, but I do not see the appeal. I would rate the game, in its current form, as a demo. Great visuals and all, but sorely lacking any meaningful content. Sure it seems fun to goof around with friends but there doesn't seem, at least to me, enough to do to justify the price. Perhaps in the future, depending on content.

So, i know it's not Steam. Just curious what peoples thoughts were on Sea of Thieves aka No Man's Sea aka Microsoft savior etc etc.
I Bought it to play with friends. I thought it was going to be crap, which it kind of is, but it's also better than expected.
Crap progression, a massive grind, but also some decent emergent gameplay. Not worth the full retail price, and definitely feels like an early access or alpha/beta though. But fun for me to solo while watching vids, or get some laughs with friends.
What do you think?
