possibly wrong move on their end. most games see their pricing drop over time with constant sales or even going free. not doubling in price.
this will likely kill their own game and not improve sales at all on an old 2013 title when there are newer options around and most interested folk would have made plans to obtain the game the past 11years by now. those who waited may have been waiting for a good discount.
not that I care, zombies not my thing and has been done to death, probably time for something different in 2024. alien/robotic invasions maybe. time travel. tech hackers.

Rust has never really been out of alpha stage. Don't let them fool you into believing it's a full release.

Seems a bit strange to me that it essentially is just a naming change from Alpha 22 to 1.0 and a way to increase the price, which may or may not be reasonable. But development-wise it seems like nothing will change, so why are they skipping the beta stage entirely and suddenly considering the game complete enough? Remains to be seen whether this will have any real effect 👀

I was thinking about buying this game on a sale to play with friends, on second thought, I think I'll pass.

the game is lots of fun, especially with friends, and there are a lot of cool mods and modpacks for it, you should get it if it's under 7.5€

Maybe, I have had my eyes on other games that I could buy for that same price range. Honestly, 7 Days to Die was a consideration because it was cheap and looked interesting, but the art style of the game and the direction the game is taking doesn't appeal to me as much anymore.

It's still going to be in Alpha. This whole thing is mainly about the console ports. Richard is using the exit of Early Access on Steam as the reason for the price increase which is being adjusted to match up with pricing for the new console ports. There's already console ports for the game that stopped receiving updates years ago because their publisher, Telltale, which was funding them went out of business. Those are all getting delisted and people on consoles will have to buy the game again.

7 Days to Die will be leaving Early Access in June - https://7daystodie.com/alpha-exodus-leaving-early-access/
Price Increase Info - "Yes, at launch of 1.0 stable the standard retail price of the game from that point forward will increase to $44.99 on all platforms and storefronts. We are offering a major Last Chance weeklong deal sale on Steam from April 22 to April 29, 2024 so that people will have one last chance to get the game before the price increases."
