If you have shooting problems then most likely you have problems controlling the ball also.Practice makes perfect just keep practicing. Also google/youtube is your friend.
I can't remember who exactly but I think it was Ronaldinho who said that everywhere he went he had a ball with him.Basically he was practicising non-stop.

I play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger/inside forward. I'm good with crossing/dribbling and short passing. My finishing is...weird, lol.
I can't do simple shots, but give me a complicated/hard chance and i'll score it! Haven't played a game since January though, I need people to be less busy.
As for tips on shooting...well, you'll have to experiment. I have a bigger feet than most people, so some shots are easier for me to perform. My trademark strike is a dipping shot.

I remember my coach let me stay after training to improve my kicking skill (I started late to play and I was a bit less skilled than the others).
At first take your time for every kick, mind at your position respect to the ball and focus on the center of the ball, try to hit there.
if you're right footed, step back until you think that's the right position for starting your run-up. take a little step to the left, and run straight to the ball. do it a couple of times to perfect the distance and the movement, get used to it.
After this you can concentrate a bit more on the kicking skill itself: there various styles to do it. since you're a middlefielder, I guess you often have to kick it from outside the penalty area. the best method to impress a lot of force i believe is to stiffen your foot and, once you have hit the ball, try to stop the leg, don't let the foot accompany the ball (this is used to give effect and similar, but I suggest you to leave those aside for the future).
Keep the body inclined forward, if you lean back while kicking the ball will always end up way too high. Maybe try to aim not a the real center of the ball but a little lower; that's where the part above your toe foot's fingers ( edit: how are they called?) should connect with the ball.
Sorry for the bad english, that's the first time I tried to explain something "detailed" to someone.
Hope it helps :)

Hey. I play soccer, and I am pretty good. I play midfield mostly. I play stopper sometimes. I am in shape, can run the entire game, and am generally good at offense. However, my shooting can be pretty bad sometimes. I don't think I get the best contact with the ball. Any tips you guys may have for fixing a shooting problem? Also, if you have any drills that may help, feel free.
