Should we bann topics for gambling sites?
Honestly, I play and have a love/hate relationship with gacha games (e.g. Epic Seven, Summoners War), which is gambling at literally every turn. I disagree with preying on people who have a compulsion and feel the need to buy something, but I have no issue with providing products to those who are of sound mind and are in a financially viable situation.

Allow them - you can think that we should avoid buying mystery bundles without removing them from discussions.
I think that allowing people to post what they got can actually work towards that end - what gets people buying them is the potential for a good game. If they can see all of the crap rebundled pulls which people get it can allow people to make a more informed choice. You can even look at the good pulls and just conclude that you could have just bought a key for that game instead of gambling for a small chance of getting it.
More information about bundles is a good thing - There's so many bad bundles out there Or at least in my opinion with bad games for the money they're asking for, stuff rebundled ad infitinitum or with shitty practices like not paying for the keys - but we should still have the threads for them so we can all say that its a crap bundle and see how many times the same old crap has been reheated and rebundled.

Protecting people from themselves is always difficult. I'm a fan of trying to educate people, but let them make their own decisions. So I can't agree with ignoring or censoring mystery bundles on SG. Those threads are really useful, in my opinion, because they provide information that might stop casual buyers from making a purchase. (There's no way to stop hardcore gambling addicts, or at least no way on this website -- they need professional help).

you are right, addicts need help, banning it from sg wouldnt stop it in general.
some people are able to make their own decisions, sadly some are not. and its not just a thing of education. people might know its bad for them but they cant stop. even if you explain them why its bad, once they are addictive, it dont help them to tell them about the problems. or do you believe, an alcohol addict would stop drinking just cause you explain how bad it is? you might only reduce the new addicts in future
so i think we need both: showing how bad these gambling sites are AND help to keep the gambling sites away from them....

Do it or not.
Is it gambling?
Not gambling.
The standard for this is completely different depending on the human race and region.π½πΎ
Posting the fact of "whether the contents are honest or not" would be the correct way to deter genuine gambling lovers.
(The truth that someone sacrifices and reports is important)
Gamblers are people who "execute" when they are told "Don't do it!"
SG is a group of people who can read and judge smarter documents.(Β΄ο½₯Ξο½₯`)ooO(π₯π‘>π°π―)

Banning the subject would also mean that people pointing out scams relating to the random key stuff would also be subject to punishment.
Also, fanatical wasn't what started that whole racket. The "hot random key" circuit existed prior to them, and as far as I can remember, was from the gray market (I spotted it first on G2A, way back when, who then branched out and created HRK sites).
The idea itself isn't terrible on its own, but the dishonesty about key availability and such is definitely something that should be called out, and perhaps sites that aren't more transparent about the 'random key' thing they're selling should be treated with a soft blacklist of sorts (regarding linking / alerting to each ceaseless resurgence of 'random keys?)
I wrote a little more in-depth about why the HRK thing continues to get sales despite being a heavy majority of garbage over here, and I used to talk about it more, but I realised I was just repeating myself in every thread that kept doing the "Hey, random key bundle over here!" thing. I honestly don't know why we keep getting threads to alert people to those 'bundles', because they're never in short supply, the prices are almost always practically identical, and the contents are similarly just unwanted chaff that sites want to get rid of, but can't sell normally, and with good reason. Seeing threads alerting to "Random keys on sale over here!" is sorta like seeing threads saying "The sky is blue over here!" and "The sky is also blue over there!".

now we can argue: do we need people to share the shit they got?
I honestly think this is the best way to kill these gambling scheme. Some dumb gamblers moved by satisfaction of gambling still go there, but the damage is way worst if no one goes there. The SteamGifts universe is small compared to Fanatical costumers, so, the best way to advertise against this bullshit is sharing the bullshit they give to their costumers.
should we protect people who are too weak to stay away from this sites?
I really think that's a bad idea because the reasons above. It will end up making more damage than before. Also, I'm all up for the freedom of everyone, even to say dumbness and be dumb. That's their choice and they choice should be respected. Criticized, but respected.

when iΒ΄m watching tv, there is so much advertising for gambling sites and also visiting steamgifts, it seems like thanks to fanatical, we have nowadays much more topics about mystery "bundles" then in the time i started to use steamgifts... the thing is: we are allways talking that we should not support these kind of sites but by posting their offers, we advertise them on the other hand. i bet many people wouldnt notice these mystery bundles if we didnt posted them here.
now we can argue: do we need people to share the shit they got? do we need to see again and again, that these bundles are a waste of money? or should we protect people who are too weak to stay away from this sites?
what do you think? should we bann or allow them?
