I won 2 games this morning (yay!) but then I saw that they had less than 5 entries (boo) and the creator stated that they will delete and redo if not enough entries. So knowing that I won't actually get the games I won, is it OK to enter for these games on other giveaways in the meantime? Or should I just hang on until the win has been deleted before I enter for these? And if that's the case, should I remove any entries that are already in for these games?

Yes. It's OK to enter other giveaways.

Awesome, thanks! I just wanted to double check because I didn't want to end up winning the same game multiple times.

If you win the same game multiple times, you just have to ask some of them to reroll the giveaways to get new winners.

Ah, okay. And that won't affect SGtools giveaways that require you to not win the same game multiple times?

Nope, sgtools is checking to make sure you haven't received/accepted multiple wins.

Well, techincally you have the right to demand those wins. The giveaway creator can only delete those giveaways if you agree to a deletion.
Figuring this might be some gibs where the creator asked its entrants to agree to a deletion in case there won't be enough entrants beforehand it might be a dick move though. Only you can decide.

I wouldnt see it as a dick move. What the creator should have done is to remove the GA before it ended if he had no intention to deliver the games.

Might misunderstood. Thought first you ment dick move from the winner not to agree. But maybe you ment dick move from the creator?

What I meant is: if there was, let's say, a description in the giveaway stating that the creator would like to receive CV for their gibs and thus asked all participants to agree in deletion if the goal was not met before entering the giveaway. So if this was the case and now it actually happened, it would be a dick move to insist on receiving the game when at the same time you agreed to their request by entering earlier.

If that is the case I agree. But if its not then I think its more then right to just deliver the game. :)

The description did not state that. The creator said it in a comment when someone said they might not reach the minimum. But I agree with you that if that had been stated, I would have been fine with it because it sucks to give away a game and not get credit for it.

Then the creator has to deliver unless you agree in deletion. If you don't they might be punished for not delivering, because that's actually breaking SG rules and would make it a fake giveaway.

Thanks! I won 2 GAs from this person so hopefully it's not a long drawn out thing, lol.

Did some research and I just found out what group you are talking about. As luck wants it I'm a mod there. I left them a comment, let's wait and see what happens next.

Thanks! He hasn't contacted me yet either way so there's a possibility that he changed his mind. But I appreciate your help either way. :)

I talked to the person about it and as it seems they thought giveaways below 5 entries were not valid as per rules (seeing as this is a group for new users mostly, things like this can happen).
The user is actually a friendly person and reacted very understanding to my explanations, so chances are you will receive the games you won :)

Well he did send the keys but they were both already redeemed. Seems to have been an accident (he said he was working off of an old key list by accident) but also seems awfully convenient. Hopefully I'll win them again some time.

It does suck for the most part when it happens but I've kinda gotten used to it lol. I normally only buy from Humble Bundle and Bundlestars now adays and often times in my main group there's a lot of times I don't get 5 entries even if it's a game that a decent amount of people would normally want in other groups. I've never added it up but I wonder how much CV I've missed out on lol.

How do you go about breaking down CV? I'm curious now.. if I wanted to add up all the GAs I didn't get 5 entries for in this one group, how do I determine what the CV is?

It was a group giveaway which might have some different rules, I suppose I need to ask in the group just to verify. Thanks for that, though, didn't know that.

Even if the group has its own rules, it won't matter for a moderator. As eeev said, according to SG rules an ended GA can be deleted only if a winner agrees to that. So yes, it's entirely up to you.

Well, the creator did send me the keys but unfortunately, they were already used. He apologized and said he was working off of an old key list. I was not the only person affected and some of the GAs affected had more than 5 entries so I think he was probably being honest but mods are looking into it just in case.

Is that even a valid reason to delete and redo a giveaway? I remeber it happened to me once, that my giveaway didn't reach the minimum because I overestimated interest in certain groups, but I just swallowed it down and delivered the game anyway. A winner's a winner after all.

I'm not sure, I've seen it stated as "terms" in a giveaway before so I assumed it was the norm/allowed.

You can write pretty much anything in the description/terms, like that the winner is required to wear a purple hat while playing the game, that still doesn't make it binding according to SG rules. Even in a restricted group giveaway, giveaway creators can't just dictate terms as they see fit, these terms look a lot like "let's just try this and if it goes wrong let's do it again". In my opinion the creator should have set less restrictive level/group requirement or just live with the consequences. But hey, I could be wrong, just ask in your group or ask for clarification with a ticket.

They can write what they want in the ga description and give any justification they want in the ticket.
They certainly won't say it's because they didn't get 5 entries. They will claim that they don't have the game anymore or that they created the wrong ga.

That's what everybody should do.
I never asked any of my ga's to be deleted for that reason either. And I had a few that didn't make 5 entries.
But that's because of the terms I chose [group or whitelist or level restriction].
People should always honor the ga's they make. It's not fair to those that entered and certainly not fair to the winner.

It's also not fair when someone does that.
I never asked to delete one of my ga's because it didn't get 5 entries. I created it and in my opinion I should always honor it no matter how many entries it get.

"What's this winning you speak of and how does one get it to happen twice" >_<

But in all seriousness I haven't deleted a GA for going bellow 5 entries nor do I belive people should unless it's a expensive non bundled GA like the witcher 3.

That doesn't stop It from happening

you can enter any number of giveaways from the same game.
you can also win any number of GAs from the same game, but you need to reroll all except one.

the ga creator can delete the giveaway at any time, except when it ends, unless he sends a ticket to support and has the consent of the winner. 👌
