Yea, my first gift I won was a Gish. Even further whoops is that I already have the game. The reason I could enter was because I didn't sync my account after getting it. So... what do I do in this situation? Do I still receive it? Can I give it to my brother/ a friend? Do I respectfully decline? I'm not quite sure what to do.

It kind of sucks that my first win was a game I already have. But at least I know I can win :)

normally, the gifter or the winner would ask the admin for a re-roll. but since gish keys from bundle aren't allowed...

Why is that btw? I would have been pleased to get it, but alas, I already had it (forgot :P). Is it because of point farming? or because people would only buy the penny bundles and then give them away? And why is that bad exactly? I mean, people would just buy it for a penny anyway.

If it's because of points farming, why not just disable points on the bundles?

It's because we don't want people to buy it for a penny. People shouldn't just give one penny for the bundle ... that's low. Please don't encourage people to buy it for next to nothing. I know you can, but you shouldn't. As a side note, I prefer the indieroyale method more.

And what do you mean by point farming? People don't receive points for giveaways they make anyway.

What I mean is, that if people are going to enter a free giveaway for the bundles, then they were going to pay as low as possible. Unless they missed the window. Also, I do agree with the indieroyale method as well.

I thought everyone gets like 1/10 of the amount of points something is worth when it is put up. Is this not correct? By giving away an indie bundle worth 10 points (or 8 or 6), that means you get about 1 point per bundle. By buying 100 bundles for $1, you now have 100 points to spend. Or do the people giving it away not get any points?

If you make a giveaway, YOU do not receive points. Everyone else does. This was introduced just to discourage such a thing, or against those who would make a false giveaway (for lets say Valve Complete Pack 100P) just so they can make the points they want.

I find it curious that you already had it but entered anyways (even though SG said you could enter). You only have 19 games. I mean, come on, didn't you know?

I did, but it's late and I forgot :P. I'm usually aware of these things, but today was busy. I just randomly clicked enter on a bunch of giveaways :).

Edit: that's why steamgifts doesn't allow you to enter giveaways for games you already have.

I think you should also enter giveaways of games you are genuinely interested in and not just click random stuff. Makes it harder for people that are actually interested in the game to win. But that's me.

Of course. I just had like 100 points. I go for ones that have low point numbers and low amount of entries (better chances of winning). I usually target indie games (best genre ever), half life 2, CoH, and some other games I'm interested in. Sometimes it feels nice to just click enter :). Also, I like to get into the giveaways if there is nothing else ending soon that I'm interested in. Like, I'm not going to enter a MW3 giveaway because I don't want it.

Unfortunately some people choose to break the rules. I don't fault them if they don't know it but if they have to give an attitude and be assholes then yeah, tough tits.

But since you went out of your way to say sorry for something like this I can tell you're not an asshole and for that I'll give you a link to my sr3 private giveaway. just add me before sunday or something.
