Is Disney actively trying to shit on the Star Wars brand? What the hell are they doing? By what criteria is EA a good choice to make Star Wars games? Even if you ignore the rage of the gamers and EA's double consecutive "worst company of the year" title, their financial catastrophe called The Old Republic clearly proves that they aren't the guys for the job.
I think that this whole Disney era will desecrate the SW franchise even more than the Lucas' prequels.

yup sucks star wars franchisee is dead lucas should never have soldd to disney he shoulld have kept in the family or sell to company that cares

Can you list "a company that cares" that could afford the asking price? Also, given what Lucas did to the franchise in the past 15 years (Jar Jar, Han Shooting Second, licensing to some crap developers) I am not sure that Disney has earned the bulk of the scorn they seem to get.

plus the fat check lucas got for selling it is not costing him any nights of sleep. EA might be evil, and yes i do not care for many of their practices but atlease we'll GET a new star wars game....just not sure if itll be the star wars game we want.

You are definitely correct. Lucas did some shit things to his series, but Disney scrapping LucasArts was pretty shitty; especially since 1313 looked decent or in the worst case scenario, interesting.
Of course, Disney has been pulling some shit moves lately. Like closing their 2D studio; if that wasn't a kick in the teeth, I don't know what is. I /like/ hand drawn films (even if they're absurdly expensive). Most Disney films make back what they spent on production +, so it's not like it was ever a problem.

The criteria they used to pick EA was the biggest briefcase full of money. That is how game companies get licenses for popular series like Star Wars, comic book series, etc. Much the same way Disney got Star Wars.

they have battlefield already, since battlefront is partly a copy of battlefield I guess SWBF is definetely NOT the first game for them to think about

Why not ? Lazy reskin + built-in fanbase = easy money

Disney might be able to force them to go for Steam for the higher user base, but really, it isn't that bad.
Then again, I'm a console gamer. I see Origin moaners as rather silly since at least they aren't buying a second system for the Origin exclusives.

Bye Star Wars, we'll remember you forever on PCs -(((

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.
I fear something terrible has happened.

I want to hate this, but...
I haven't yet bought anything on Origin, and I still have too many games to play (AAA titles even, at that).
And I haven't bought a Star Wars game in, literally, a decade, sooo...
...thankfully, although these stupid decisions will shit on my childhood, at least they won't cost me any money.

You have controlled your fear. Now, release your DLC...

EA "will develop and publish new Star Wars titles for a core gaming audience, spanning all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres, while Disney will retain certain rights to develop new titles within the mobile, social, tablet and online game categories."
Be prepared to use Origin for next Star wars games :)
