I do it like this:
if the creator states a request I try and oblige it
if I feel llike saying somthing particular for any reason, I'll do it
otherwise I'll just go for my "standard" response (i recently started mixing it up a little)
even though it's "standard" I still mean it every time
as for me: I don't care, "thanks" are not necessary to begin with. I give away to give away. Everything else is optional. But still welcome. :)

You got on my whitelist in the first place because you were always very polite :) and funny too :P
I understand that some people may get annoyed by a lot of different "thank you" comments, but blacklisting for this is a bit silly unless they specifically asked not to leave any comments. It feels sad when I see a GA with a bunch of entries and 0 comments.

I don't like generic "thanks" in my public GAs because they collapse my inbox and because most of them are using scripts, but I don't even receive a "thank you" message from my winners normally (that gratitude is always nice to get) so... I tend to think they are "shy", I don't blacklist for that thing.
I only blacklist high level hoarders: people with high level and too many wins because they give a lot of games to small private groups with ratio but they get games from everyone. I mean, they exclusively give games to their group(s) only to maintain their ratio but meanwhile they enter every single high level public GA.

When I started here I had a stupid script with auto-"thank you" comment, took me a while to realize it's just spam and most people don't really care and I disabled it. I shifted into a personal thank you - only when I win, in a PM on steam or on the GA itself, because then I can really show my gratitude for actually getting the game.
Just saying "thank you" for being on a random giveaway doesn't hold any meaningful feeling or intent - and that's what we're looking for, don't we? sincere gratitude. So that's how I view it anyway.

Since GMG credits are about to expire, I used what I had to buy this somtin'-somtin' to give back to this great community! :)
Also:
What do you think about this change of "popular opinion" about commenting on GAs? When I joined, some two and a half years ago, I was told that people "look down" on you when you don't say "Thanks" on GAs you entered, and the entered/comments ratio should always be on the side of comments. But now many people started yelling against commenting and blacklisting left and right, and/or started demanding something more than "Thanks".
I personally think that it is a hard habit to brake, (also I like being polite and saying thanks on every GA I enter) and I don't always have enough time, or will, to conjure up something meaningful.
