if a giveaway a month is too "intense" for you, good luck finding a good giveaway group.
Remember, the higher the gifting requirement is, the higher you'll have a chance at winning.

You're not going to get into any interesting groups with $30 CV. And its not as though $300 CV is outlandish. If you bought all of that at 80% off, its only $60. When you factor in that you'll also get bundle CV above the cap when you contribute non-bundle games, it becomes even cheaper to hit $300.
And any decent group is going to have some kind of minimum frequency of giveaways, either based on winning giveaways or simply per period. As jbond said, creating one giveaway a month is nothing at all, if you're interested in winning once a month.

if a group is to be good and give you decent chances to win all users should actively make GAs on a monthly basis. You say yourself you cannot do so - so really what do you expect? That you get into group of 50 ppl making GAs all the time and you would just sit there and leech tose? Not gonna happen, sorry. There are also groups where only a few ppl give away and other can freely join - but as these has much lesser GAs per month (if 50 ppl create at least 1 GA each per month you will have 50 GAs to join. With 5 ppl giving stuff away for others you can't expect them to give away 10 games each each month just for others to join) and also lesser chance to win, as usually the gofters won't worry about group users members to be quite low to give smaller number of ppl bigger chances, they will rather give chances to more ppl.
So either you are capable to give away on a regular basis and in reward you will have a chance to win on a daily basis, or you stick with free ones - which really gives you no right to complaint, as you're not giving back to group in return.
You can eiter have a pie or eat a pie ;p

no - pie is a whole circular 360° delicious object. if you get a 60° slice of a pie you won't eat a pie, you will eat 60° slice of it, and you will not have a pie left but 5/6 of a pie. If you own 5/6 of something you can't say you have a pie.

To clarify I am not opposed to giving away games. I have given more than I got - and I have only been here a short while. That being said I don't like being forced to give as a condition of membership. I would probably give away games but it being a requirement robs it of its worth.

As far as giveaways go, they are considered of low value. 5 bundle games could have cost you a dollar. A single non bundle game isn't likely to have cost so little. Therefore, they are considered of higher value within giveaway groups.

Not everyone. The good giveaway groups sure don't. I see $60 games there.

Almost all groups which didn't require 1 giveaway per month not exist or are public and not require at all giveaways. So at this point they are almost useless - you join for that only for join for their giveaways. All other groups which require 1 giveaway per half year or smth similar not exist anymore, or change to 1 month... You can find groups, which require 1 giveaway per month, but can giveaway bundle games at around $50 CV for join.

Others have already said it, but the message doesn't seem to be getting through. I'll try to simplify things for you.
Q. How do I get into invite-only groups?
A. Give away games.
Q. How do I get into groups that share "higher-quality" games?
A. Give away higher-quality games.
Seriously, if you give away $10 of non-bundled games every month, you will probably have at least 300 CV by the end of the year and people will be inviting you into all kinds of groups.

What are the best groups that don't require too much but also don't suck (I know this is subjective. I have 30CV, enter giveaways regularly, comment some, use forums, and will give away things sometimes but don't want the groups that require 300CV, and 1 bundled and one not bundled game per month/week - those are too intense.)
