I have played those two so much as a kid, but I'm pretty sure I had a bootleg console, that somehow worked great with those two games. Maybe it wasn't a bootleg after all, who knows :\

Just shy of my 4th birthday, Santa brought us a brand new Atari 2600... not a selfish gift at all, Santa :P
My dad was super disappointed that the console didn't work out of the box and we had to wait the next day for... Santa to change it. I remember not caring at all.
We did spend way too much of December 26 playing Pong though. Actually it was "Video Olympics" which is one of the original "game" that shipped with the console and where basically every sport was a variation of Pong XD
Take a look at the Ice Hockey game. Okay so it wasn't immersive but it was still fun.
My love of racing games started with Indy 500. Need for Speeeeeeeed

I love your story, "Santa had to change it" haha :D

The oldest i can recall is when i spent a lot of money (not my own ofc) on microtransactions in some shitty java game about dropping a totem and not letting it hit traps. I got a really big talking to from my grandma and mom at the time, and learned not to get any games from newspapers anymore.

Been there, done that :)) But with a in-browser game called Dark Orbit

Holy shit, now that is a memory unlock. I remember playing Dark Orbit so long ago, and could never remember it's name when i thought back to it. This actually solves a few year old mystery for me haha

I'm glad to help then :D I've played lots of it, and I was always terrible at it. I used my dad's phone to buy the paid currency and used it to buy the Goliath which at that time was the strongest ship. I was too stupid to know that I could've gotten that without spending real money, and for much cheaper from the auctions.

When everyone I knew had an Atari, we got an Odyssey 2, with a rip-off of PacMan and my favorite... Monkey Shines.
In Monkey Shines, you and another player jump around the screen chasing yellow monkeys. You get a point by catching one. When you release the monkey by throwing it, it turns red for a short time, chases players, and freezes a player when it catches one. Naturally, we'd throw the monkeys at each other. It was a blast.

I guess the first memory would be playing some Atari 2600 game when I was 5 (approx. 1988). Probably Enduro or Decathlon and breaking a controller with this last one.
A nice memory was my father and my cousin playing Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP 2 (on my Mega Drive) all night long, while I was sleeping. I wake up and saw them trying to make Senna the last place beating his car hahahah! Videogames unite people, thank you for the giveaway!

Completely unrelated, but for some reason you reminded me of the "Tom and Jerry in War of the Whiskers" game that I used to play with my cousin for hours on end, somehow both of us still being terrible at it, but then again, we were kids.

darn that's a tough one now that I think about it! I've been gaming my whole life! Ever since I remember I was always playing something! There was some educational maths game I've been playing before I even knew how numbers work :D I think my parents actually got it for my older sis to practice elementary maths but I found it fun so I was probably playing it more than she did I actually learnt to read and I own a large chunk of my English knowledge to gaming in hindsight, thank God not all the games were localised :D but what's the oldest of them all?
I remember playing the original Prince of Persia (the 1989 one), Disney's Aladdin, Lemmings, some weird Pac-Man clone where you had guns instead of the big pill and many many others but what was my first? It's all just a blur now, mixed together into a one giant happy memory without any breaks or borders so I doubt I could just pick a single one of that...

I can relate so much to what you said about learning English from games. Indeed thank goodness for that.

I was with my parents at their friend's house, and he had a computer with tape deck, probably some ZX Spectrum clone. I was like 6 yo. I vaguely remember some motorcycle game — something like Super Cycle.

The first game I can remember playing was Evolution. It was released early in the 80s. I am sure I played some Atari games before that but nothing comes to mind.

Playing on one of these when I was like 6 or 7 years old, I'm not sure
I also remember playing this a lot this

From the late 80s, sitting in my parents' friend's lap as he played Super Mario on the NES. It's one of my earliest memories and a very, very, very faint one. But it's there, and there is a feeling of happiness attached to it. I don't know how old I was, but I was very, very young. At most 3 years old.

Probably some super old Arcade game when I was 3-4-ish years old. I remember there were two arcade machines in the city's old cinema (which is conveniently very close to home) but I have no clue what games were on them. A game I do remember though was when my mom went on some excursion with her class (she was a teacher) and took me with them and the hotel's lobby had an arcade machine with some beat-em-up style game where the main character had a big hammer- I remember that because her students kept asking me (the, at the time, 4-5-year old) to beat the first boss for them since I figured out I could easily cheese the boss by hitting some sandbags with the hammer that turned them into projectiles for an easy win. XD
Meanwhile for the first PC game memory- I remember that as a kid me and my family went to visit some colleague/friend of my dad. Their son had a computer and was playing some old Worms game (Worms Armageddon maybe?). I liked the game a lot so when years later my parents bought our own computer I immediately got Worms World Party (via some friend of my sister installing me a cracked copy, lol- I was still too young to do that myself XD ).

Oh, I know all about cracked copying and games on CDs copied from friends that copied them from other people and so on. Back then you had to know the right people if you wanted a certain game, so most of the time we'd just play what we could get our hands on and be happy with it :D

I always think about playing some old game called "Scarab of Ra" on my dad's Macintosh computer, but, being like 2 or 3, I had no idea what to do.

First games I played were on an old DOS computer that my grandma had, I don't really remember which games but they came on 5 1/2 inch floppies and took forever to load. I think they were mostly educational games for kids, the graphics were something like this: CGA graphics
First console I played was Beauty and the Beast on a Intellivision at a friends house, basically a Donkey Kong Clone. The first console I owned myself was a Nintendo, which my parents had to pry me off of. My neighbor and I both owned one, and we'd play at each others houses and trade games all the time. If a game didn't work, we'd do the ritual of taking it out, blowing in the console, blowing on the cartridge, and put it back in.
First PC I owned was a Windows 3.1, had a lot of awesome games including Commander Keen, The Incredible Machine, Chips Challenge, Wolfenstein 3D and many more.

First game I recall playing is Asteroids for the Atari 2600 when I got the console gifted to me.

I think Adibou 2 on PC (Windows 95). I was between 3 and 4 years old.

I've been thinking about this question for a little and thought I might ask you guys as well. What is your earliest memory of playing a video game, any type of game? Or if you are not sure of the earliest one, feel free to tell us about a very old, happy, gaming memory of yours.
For me, it has to be around the early 2000s, probably between 2004-2006, late at night, for some reason I wasn't asleep at that hour, playing that Tetris game from "Timon & Pumbaa's Jungle Games" with my mom, on my uncle's computer at the time.
It is quite a simple memory, but one I cherish a lot and like to go back to every once in a while, at least mentally, since we can't turn the time back.
