I posted the comment in that discussion a long time ago still not invited to group or declined.

To be honest, I am not very much into the whole Steam Groups business, and certainly am too lazy to maintain one of my own. So I was hesitant in mentioning any of them. Not sure if there are qualification rules to get into this particular group that may have been on its creator's mind, but most GAs here will not be affiliated with any groups.
Plenty of stuff to win, not much to lose.

I am not entering your group for giveaways. I already saw that these giveaways are not group exclusive but I requested the group invite in April 2013, there is still no response on the comment...

I believe you meant 2014.
Anyway, I did not create that group, and did not have anything to do with the rules set up in there (invite-only systems are somewhat against my principles), and, for the reasons stated above, neither did I monitor the entry applications.
Actually, up until twenty minutes ago I had no clue how to send invites to join any group in Steam.
Now I know how to send them from a Steam profile page, but not all groups I am a member of show up on the list of those I can invite to…
Will check this with the group creator (if he's around), so if you are dead set on the decision, please feel free to decline the invitation once it finally arrives.
UPDATE: Sorry for bringing up a private group. Here is a statement regarding membership applications. As this is something beyond my control or comprehension, I will not be commenting on that any further.

sorry 2014, btw I am not blaming you just explaining my issue

Just realized a couple of days ago that you are the creator of the first SteamPlay-dedicated group - SG Mac-Linux!
So I've been watching it for a brief while now, and it appears to have gone completely silent (with 0 members online any time I check). Even after going public. This is somewhat alarming, and practically explains my concerns about the newer invite-only group which ozo2003 has put up this year. I am all for diversity, but this also pretty much illustrates fragmentation and redundancy in the GNU/Linux community.
That's just a random rant, anyway. Never mind. Thanks for all your contributions!

you're right. i started it with good hopes but i run out of free time and did not put enough effort in it. i'm not the right person for chat, events and all that kind of stuff. also steam groups are not that easy to keep alive, i learned. as you say, i set the group public before letting it go, without big results. it would be nice for me to merge with another one or some other idea to make some alive community.

Great giveaways you've got there, I've been thinking of migrating to a Linux OS for years now, but some software which has no good analogues in Linux, as well as compatibility issues (e.g. laggy Nvidia Optimus drivers) won't let me switch completely (I have been using Ubuntu during the whole summer and fall as my only OS, before having to install Windows again)
Here's hoping that I will do it in 2015 and thanks for the giveaways!

gamming on linux sounds great but havent got a great experience on all my tries, mostly lower FPS...

Could have been a driver problem or a poorly optimized port…
Did this happen with any games in particular or with most/all of them?
I cannot say absolutely everything is peachy now, but the situation is gradually improving over time.
My experience so far has been great, except for certain Unity3d engine quirks.

Right now even Borderlands series is available under linux. Probably the biggest reason why windows stinks in dual boot is(rather was) lack of games... After few years there will be no reason to keep that squishy broken window. Good job steam and game developers of certain games ;-). And I am also happy to very publicly point out ...

Thanks a lot for your efforts and the giveaways, I moved recently from Win7 to Win 8.1+Debian, in dualboot. I just use debian for work but I'd really like to fully migrate to linux as soon as I get used to Libreoffice, and of course the small number of games on linux (steam catallog I mean).

R-r-right. As some of you may have noticed, the first wave of giveaways is now over and all gifts have been sent. Congratulations to all of the winners!
I decided to play the diversity card next without repeating myself just yet, but some of the games will make their return in a next wave(s?)…
As always, you are more than welcome to join any of the new Steamplay-flavoured GAs or to create one of your own!

is it okay to contribute a game that already has been given away by you? if so, is there a preferred deadline? O.o
Comment has been collapsed.
Of course it's okay! Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated. And I will be doing some repeats anyway…
The only thing I would specifically ask for this particular event: A SteamOS+Linux port of the game you are gifting must exist on Steam (and if that is something already gifted earlier here - it meets that requirement).
As for the deadline, this will be going on for another week or two. So any time before that should be good. I'll close the post when everything is over.

This event was originally planned for the beginning of September, but… better late than never!
So, Steam now lists ~860 GNU/Linux-compatible games in its catalog, which is roughly a fifth of all titles available there.
"Steam OS + Linux" as a gaming platform keeps receiving support from many indie developers and is steadily getting recognition of "AAA" publishers with games like Bioshock: Infinite (confirmed) on the radar… and Empire: Total War (speculated) released just recently by Feral Interactive!
As usual there are no rules that would prevent you from joining any of the giveaways if you are using a different OS. Au contraire, building a solid cross-platform Steam library may help you switch in the future. ^^
Let's roll, shall we?
NOTE: All giveaways in the opening post are now closed!
UPDATED on January 3-4 of 2015 to celebrate reaching a beastly number of games in my SteamOS + Linux library.
I guess this will be the last batch for now, until a proper comeback around the end of February?..

One last update. Thank you all for joining me in this rather odd celebration. Let us all venture into 2015 to see many more prime quality titles gracing the GNU/Linux platform and SteamOS!
